12 days of holding my breath. That’s what the Mars-Saturn window asks of us. On April 28th, Mars will break out of Saturn’s 5-degree orbit, finally relieving the pressure that has been on your chest since the middle of this month. What we do over the next seven days will determine how the rest of spring unfolds.
How has the sky changed while we were looking down?
Let’s think about it for a moment. Mars is currently in Revati, still in the sidereal Pisces, but moving further away from Saturn by the day. Mercury is running ahead of both, leaving Pisces for Aries on April 30th. The Sun is exalted in Aries and is gaining strength by the hour. Venus is in her own sign, Taurus, and is quietly working on the repair work I talked about last week. Rahu is still at about 11 degrees Aquarius. Jupiter is stable in late Gemini. The crowd thinned. The water that had been standing still began to move.
You may not consciously notice the change. That’s normal. Astrological pressures bring long storms to an end and release in the form of gradual brightening rather than dramatic cloud breaks. But if you wake up tomorrow and are able to make decisions that you couldn’t make on Monday, the reason lies in the sky.
What should I restart first?
The order of the list is as follows:
- your body. If your exercise, sleep, and eating disciplines have stacked up and fallen apart, pick them up again this week before they become habits. You need to tell your nervous system that the storm is over.
- A conversation you’ve been putting off. If you’ve been holding off on having an important conversation during the Mars-Saturn window, now is the right time to do it. Listeners’ ears are working better this week than last week.
- Financial decisions you put off. When Mercury finishes its debilitation and enters Aries on April 30th, the numbers regain their usual clarity. Organize, reread, and sign what you had.
- creative project. Venus in Taurus supports the creation of beautiful things. If a piece of work is left unfinished, pick it up.
- Habits you want to acquire. The Aries Sun remains exalted until mid-May. Use that confidence in the sun to make small efforts every day. It’s not 10. One.
Things that haven’t restarted yet
Three things need another week or two before it’s worth a full reboot. First, any major public launches or announcements should wait until after May 3, when the parivartanas of Mercury and Jupiter are closed and communications are normal. Secondly, for new business partnerships, especially those involving shared funds, it is desired to have the Sun further in Aries and Mars further in Revati, which will be obtained by early May. Third, it is better to make major medical decisions after May 5 if you can wait.
a different kind of momentum
There is something worth noting here. The reboot after a Mars-Saturn conjunction is different in quality from reboots at other times. You will notice that what you pick up again now has quietly changed. We will not be restarting the same project we started in mid-April. You’re holding a version weighed by Saturn and moving forward against a backdrop of greater gravity. That was the purpose of conjunctions.
If you pick up a project and it doesn’t feel right, trust that signal. It may indicate that the project did not stand up to consideration. Saturn’s gift, when we are willing to accept it, is to stop doing what we were doing out of habit rather than purpose.

Where new energy lands with rising signs.
For an Aries ascendant, the Sun enters the 1st house and Mars transits the 12th house. The need for continued private rest can help keep you balanced and energized. A Taurus ascendant has Venus in the 1st house. This is a gentle personal rebirth over the next two weeks. Gemini Ascendants find Mercury moving in the 11th supporting income and friendships. Use the next 10 days to do some networking that’s been on hold. For all other rising signs, the general rules are: Wherever your 12th house is, keep resting it. No matter where your 1st, 5th, or 9th house is, lean into it.
