Tyler Perry may be the king of comedy and heartwarming storytelling, but there’s one thing he’s not a fan of. Halloween!
“I grew up in New Orleans, so it’s always Halloween on Bourbon Street because there’s voodoo and spookiness,” he joked. “I’m okay. You’re all okay too. Witches, goblins, goblins, anything is fine as long as I’m okay.”
And when it comes to seeing people dress up as his iconic character, Madea, for spooky holidays, Perry admits it’s a little over the top. “Seeing people dress up as Madea is a scary thing for Halloween,” he laughed. “You’ll see the trick-or-treaters come and their kids become Madea. I’m like, no, no, don’t do that!”
While Perry is avoiding haunted fun, he’s going for something lighter in his next film find joy.
“I just wanted to do something light,” he said. “There are some very heavy things in the world. This is a very light and wonderful movie.”
The film is about a New York fashion designer who travels to Colorado in hopes of a romantic proposal, only to discover that her boyfriend wants her for himself. best man! Heartbroken and caught in a snowstorm, she passes a stranger and the two end up spending time together in a cozy cabin in the snow.
“It’s romantic, it’s funny, it’s beautiful,” Perry said. “There’s a lot going on, so let’s have some fun.” See more inside..
