Precious Arzuaga, a 38-year-old woman who prosecutors say acted as the “mastermind” of the torture and torture The violent murder of Sam Nordquist24 year old black transgender man pleaded guilty for all the charges against her today, including first-degree murder, kidnapping and aggravated sexual abuse.
On September 28, 2024, Nordquist traveled from his home state of Minnesota to Ontario County in upstate New York, where he met up with his online girlfriend, Arzuaga, and was scheduled to return two weeks later. Linda Nordquist said her son did not return on time. Instead, investigators say Nordquist was subjected to months of “depraved” torture by Arzuaga, her son, and a network of five friends and colleagues, ranging in age from 19 to 33. Nordquist was found dead in a field on February 13, 2025, wrapped in plastic.
According to grand jury indictment A March 5, 2025, post provides graphic details about his death, saying the group spent weeks beating Nordquist, hitting him with objects, sexually assaulting him, and forcing him to ingest urine and human feces. The charges to which Arzuaga pleaded guilty in Ontario County Court include two counts of first-degree coercion for forcing a 7-year-old and a 12-year-old child to observe and participate in torture.
Nordquist’s body was discovered in Yates County less than a week after local police began investigating the missing person at the request of her family. Ontario County District Attorney James Ritz called the case “the worst murder investigation our office has ever been involved in.” press conference Shortly after Nordquist’s body was discovered.

Arzuaga is scheduled to be sentenced to life in prison without parole on Sept. 4 for first-degree murder, aggravated sexual assault, concealing a corpse, kidnapping, conspiracy, coercion and endangering the welfare of a child. Nordquist’s sister Kayla, who traveled from Minnesota to attend the trial, told a local ABC affiliate that going to court was “the worst thing I’ve ever had to do.” Despite Arzuaga’s guilty plea, Kayla said she doesn’t believe the defendants were completely honest about the full extent of the crimes they committed against Nordquist.
“I don’t understand why she suddenly feels so guilty,” Kayla Nordquist told the station. “She didn’t feel guilty when she was raping him and beating him and starving him. She didn’t feel guilty then. I don’t think she feels guilty now.”
“I loved him and I still love him. He was important and he still is,” she continued. “I want the world to know Sam Nordquist’s name. He was a really good person. He didn’t deserve this.”
