Stock Market and Financial Cycles

September is seasonally not a good month for the stock market, and Kevin Warsh’s Jackson Hole speech was hawkish for interest rates and started a sell-off that should continue into Sept. 4th. We have several planets with dignity in September, with Jupiter in Cancer, Mercury exalted in Virgo, Venus in its own sign of Libra, the Sun in its own sign of Leo, and Mars in the constellation of Punarvasu, owned by Jupiter. Hence, after Labor Day, some of those positive recoveries should be felt into the FOMC meeting which is on Sept. 16th and bearish afterward as Mars goes into Cancer on the 18th, and after the meeting we have the bearish aspect of Mercury opposing Saturn. Patterns still could allow the S&P 500 cash market to reach 8000-8040 unless cash takes out 7560 before Labor Day. Still, we feel the stock market is on borrowed time. October looks bleak for stocks as the market Jupiter moves toward conjunction with Ketu and Mars into Nov. 15th, and that seems like a major corrective aspect that will at least take the S&P 500 back to 7100. If S&P cash can stay above 6700, then there may be another chance for stocks to go higher into Feb.

The geopolitical landscape seems more challenging for Europe with Russia already threatening the UK because of their missiles that are being sent to Ukraine. The Ukraine/Russian conflict will continue to get messier, and major grain-exporting terminals have already been taken out, which will impede exports. Europe continues to want to enter the war with Russia to deflect their failures, and the energy will be intense with Mars/Ketu in November. Mars in Cancer is a declawed cat. It hisses and threatens but often takes a poised, snarling stand rather than striking. Venus in Libra may temporarily give us hope for Iran/US. Still, we should not expect anything to get resolved, and the Iran chart suggests no regime change until late 2027 at the earliest, when they leave their Jupiter period and go into Saturn, which has a maraka 7th- and 2nd-house influence. China will be emboldened to fight against Taiwan with Rahu going into Capricorn in late November as they are a Capricorn rising country and Rahu is ambitious and greedy.

Four months for $99

September opens with a rare feeling of possibility paired with restraint. Jupiter’s trine to Saturn on August 31 sets the month’s underlying tone: expansion is available, but it needs structure, patience, and a plan. For Astro-Finance readers, this is not necessarily a “risk-on at all costs” signature. It favors disciplined growth – reviewing long-term holdings, making practical improvements to a business model, building cash reserves, and asking whether optimism has a workable foundation. The early September Saturn-Mars square adds friction: markets, businesses, and individuals may encounter delays, resistance, operational bottlenecks, or the consequences of moving too quickly. Think strategy over impulse, especially when making capital commitments. Jupiter remains in Cancer throughout September, while Saturn stays retrograde in Pisces in the sidereal framework.

Venus enters Libra on September 2, bringing a needed counterbalance. Venus is traditionally strong in Libra and supports negotiation, relationship management, aesthetics, value assessment, and fair exchange. Financially, this can be a productive period for revisiting contracts, improving client communications, rebalancing partnerships, and considering whether spending is aligned with real values rather than status or emotion. In business, Venus in Libra rewards diplomacy: the deal that leaves both parties feeling respected may prove more durable than the deal won through pressure. Yet the Sun’s quincunx to Saturn around September 5 suggests that adjustments will still be necessary. Ambition may meet limits, and leadership may need to recognize the cost of carrying too much alone.

Mercury’s movement into Virgo on September 8 is one of the month’s clearest signals for analysis, systems, and due diligence. I find that technology stocks usually go up with Mercury in Virgo so perhaps there will be a final bust and recovery there in mid-September unless the Saturn opposition upends it. Mercury favors details: spreadsheets, inventories, crop projections, logistics, account reconciliation, risk controls, research, and careful communication. For farmers, commodity participants, and small-business owners, this is a strong window to check assumptions rather than merely repeat a market narrative. The Mercury-Pluto trine around September 12 can support deeper research and the uncovering of information beneath the surface, but Mercury’s simultaneous opposition to Neptune cautions against confusing rumor, hope, or fear with verified facts. Use the sharpness of Mercury-Pluto to investigate, but use Virgo discernment to confirm every important number, source, and promise before acting. Mercury’s trine to Uranus on September 13 can then bring a timely insight, a useful technology solution, or an unconventional but practical idea.

Midmonth carries a more emotionally charged financial atmosphere. Venus square Pluto and Venus quincunx Neptune on September 15 can expose hidden tensions around money, power, desire, debt, loyalty, and perceived value. This is not the ideal signature for emotionally loaded purchases, speculative rescue attempts, or entering arrangements that cannot be stated plainly. Venus-Pluto can intensify the urge to control outcomes; Venus-Neptune can blur the true price of a dream. The constructive use of these aspects is honesty: clarify financial boundaries, review shared expenses, read the fine print, and notice where attraction or fear may be influencing judgment. In markets, this type of symbolism can coincide with exaggerated sentiment, so practical risk management matters more than persuasive stories.

The Sun’s entrance into Virgo on September 16, followed by Mercury’s opposition to Saturn and Mars’s entrance into Cancer around September 18, emphasizes the connection between work, security, and emotional decision-making. Mercury opposite Saturn can feel like critical feedback, restrictive rules, cautious lenders, delayed approvals, or a harder-than-usual conversation about responsibility. It is a useful transit for auditing plans, but not for assuming every obstacle is permanent. Mars in Cancer adds protective instincts around home, family, land, food, and security – areas especially relevant to agricultural and household-finance decisions. In its higher expression, this transit motivates people to protect what sustains them; in its lower expression, it can produce reactive choices based on anxiety. The better question is not “How do I eliminate uncertainty?” but “What practical measures make me more secure if uncertainty continues?”

The final week brings culmination, revelation, and a possible change in perspective. The heliocentric Jupiter-Saturn trine on September 23 reinforces the month’s longer-term lesson: growth works best when it is paired with realism. The Pisces Full Moon at 10 degrees on September 26 can heighten intuition, emotion, and awareness of what has reached completion. In Astro-Finance terms, it is a good time to review what is draining energy or resources and what needs to be released, finalized, or simplified. The Sun’s trine to Pluto on the 26th and trine to Uranus on the 28th suggest that late September can also bring breakthroughs – especially where people are willing to reform old systems, use better information, or embrace a more efficient method. The month closes with a reminder that intuition is valuable, but it works best when paired with records, ratios, research, and a disciplined plan.

Jupiter/Saturn aspects are often major turns for the stock market. We will have to see how it lands technically.

Sector Outlook

Crude Oil and Energy

We do not see an end to the Iran war until late 2027 or 2028, and oil is at a point where it should not take out 75.00 or 72.50 now; the next push up will take it to 100-103 in the most bearish pattern. Supply problems persist, as countries have prevented a disaster by using up their reserves, and even the key Cushing indicator in the US is at the bottom of the barrel, as the US has been selling oil to other suffering countries. This reality will erupt again in September and October, even if the market seems bearish early in the month.

Interest Rates

Oil inflation is likely to cause problems, and the 10-year note is projecting rates of 5.02% and 5.25% in the longer term, even with a minor pause. Once the 10-year comes out at 4.75, watch out. Last month, the FOMC had 3 dissenters who wanted rate hikes; employment is good, inflation is not going away, and higher rates are inevitable. Warsh was not clear in September, but the numbers are not moving the right way, and easing is not coming as much as President Trump wants.

Longer-term pressure for higher rates continues into late 2026 and May 2027 as global debt expands.

Metals

We remain positive on long-term gold. It is correcting at publication into early September and should set up a buy. We have higher prices into early October and could see 5200-5400 on gold. Silver could go to 9500 and pullbacks should hold 6340-6500 in early September. These markets move fast, so consider our daily service noted below with trials starting at 97.00/month.

Gold and silver have already exceeded many expectations. Long-term cycles continue to support silver toward 148-155 this year and 225 next year, while gold could move toward 10,800 by 2028. A buy for gold and silver will take place again in early September, with a rally into early October followed by a seasonal swoon back into December.
