JK Rowling says she can’t fire Harry Potter star over trans support

JK Rowling said he has no authority to fire Paapa Essidu from Harry Potter TV adaptation to his support for the trans community – obviously she isn’t.

Following the UK Supreme Court ruling in April, hundreds of experts from the television and film world signed an open letter pledging to support the trans community, following the ruling that trans women are not legally defined as women under the Equality Act of 2010.

The letter launched by development producer Sid Strickland and script editor Jack Casey expressed “solidarity with the trans, non-binary and intersex communities affected by the Supreme Court decision” and believes that all those who signed their names will undermine the safety of trans, non-binary and intersex people living in the UK.”

Alongside Essidu, other famous faces include naming letters Amazing beast Star Eddie Redmayne, Our Last With my favourite Bella Ramsey Bridgerton’s Nicola Coffran and many writers, producers and directors.

Author of Harry Potter The executive producer of TV adaptation, Book Series JK Rowling, famous for her anti-trans views, funded a gender-critical group that filed a Supreme Court case — responded to Esido’s signature in an X/Twitter post.

“I don’t have the power to dismiss an actor in the series. If so, I won’t exercise it,” Rowling wrote in the post, sharing a link to an article about Essiedu.

“I don’t believe in taking away people’s work or livelihoods, because they have legally protected beliefs that are different from mine.”

Recently, HBO CEO Casey Bloys said that despite his important role in creating the show, Rowling’s view on Trans Rights has no impact on channel adaptation.

The CEO continues to argue that Rowling’s opinion is “very subtle and complicated,” saying, “Our priorities are on-screen. Clearly, Harry Potter’s story is incredibly positive and positive, about love and self-acceptance. That’s our priorities.

Last month, HBO saw many major cast members in the television series. Harry Potter A book used during the full-length season.
