Dolly Parton assured fans that she is feeling better, but that she still “needs to heal” after canceling her Las Vegas residency.
The star, who turned 80 in January, told fans: instagram reelHe said there was “good news and a little bit of bad news.” Lately, Parton has been keeping fans updated on her health struggles following the death of her husband Carl Thomas Dean last March.
The “Jolene” singer said:
“The bad news is, as my grandma used to say, the medication and treatments have made me a little more alert, so it’s going to take me a while to reach stage performance level.”
Ms. Parton said she couldn’t wear “five-inch heels” and get “giddy” on stage, adding, “And you know I’m going to wear them.”
However, she gave her fans hope, describing herself as a classic car that needed to be restored to make it “better than ever.”
Parton, who previously mentioned kidney stones, also joked:
“But the truth is, my immune system and digestive system have gone really bad over the last few years, so I’m working really hard to get my strength back.”
She said her Las Vegas residency, which had already been rescheduled for September 2026, has been canceled, but added that she hopes to see fans soon.
“Thank you from the bottom of my heart. You have been a huge part of my healing,” she said, referring to the death of her husband and going through her “first year” without him.
