unusual gathering
Sometimes slow planets, that is, planets that form years rather than days, are lined up in a single conversation. July of this year is one of those times. From the 15th to the 25th, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto, Jupiter, and Saturn converge around the same degree of the Earth and Water signs and begin to converse with each other all at once, forming what I call the Cradle of the Universe. It is a flowing, largely supportive web of sextiles and trines held together by a single tension across the Cancer-Capricorn axis.
The sky in stellar terms is:
- Pluto at 10 degrees Capricorn (retrograde): Deep structural changes.
- Uranus is at 10 degrees Taurus: Wake up about money, resources, and values.
- Neptune at 10 degrees Pisces (retrograde from July 7th): A dissolving spiritual current beneath it all.
- Jupiter at 10 degrees Cancer: Expand through home, heart, and nutrition.
- Saturn at 20 degrees Pisces (retrograde on July 27): A call to inner discipline and surrender.
daily aspects
- July 15th, Neptune sextile Uranus. Intuition and innovation go hand in hand. Insight often arrives quietly, through dreams or sudden inner realizations.
- On July 18th, Uranus and Pluto trine. Unusual and constructive. Big changes become a reality. Old buildings can be rebuilt rather than demolished. In earth signs, this promotes real, down-to-earth change.
- July 19th, Saturn sextile Mars. Disciplined behavior. Perseverance and steady effort accomplish what force cannot. A good day to start something that requires patience.
- On July 20th, Jupiter and Pluto will be at opposition. Cradle tension point. Be wary of excesses and power struggles, especially over money and influence. When you stay humble, pressure becomes fuel instead of friction.
- July 21st, Jupiter sextile Uranus. Sudden opportunities, unexpected help, fresh ideas that expand your options.
- July 25th, Neptune sextile Pluto. Soul-level notes across generations: Transformation guided by compassion and faith.
We noted in our annual outlook that there is a potential for further intensification of violence this summer, and that all of these factors will stir up the situation. The most vulnerable areas are places like the UK, France and Germany, where people are angry at their governments and globalism.
Taken together, the message is one of construction, not upheaval. This is the season to build something real and make big changes happen gently and patiently. The unique opposition of Jupiter to Pluto reminds us to keep the ego out of it.
western lens
Western astrologers watch this same window closely. They point out that the Uranus-Pluto trine is the first such trine in about 100 years, and that the last Neptune sextile Uranus occurred from 1966 to 1968, a period associated with creative breakthroughs and grassroots awakenings. We are witnessing this with the socialist awakening in the Democratic Party.
They read the Jupiter-Pluto opposition as the element of an intense stress test, where ambition and the need for control collide. Although these systems differ in their methods, both traditions are consistent. This is a rare and transformative cluster, and how we respond to it is critical. Once upon a time, in July 1789, the French Revolution occurred, Jupiter in Cancer and Pluto in Capricorn were aligned, and the United States was still embroiled in a war of independence with Great Britain.
faster movement
- mercury It goes retrograde in Gemini and turns direct on July 24th. Until then, we’ll be doing reviews, not launches. Review conversations, double-check contracts, and finalize any half-finished things. Transparency returns after the 24th.
- solar On July 17th, you will enter the sidereal sign of Cancer, turning your heart towards home and family.
- Venus You enter Leo on July 5th, increasing your creativity, romance, and generosity.
- neptune and saturn Both are retrograde in Pisces (July 7th and July 27th), drawing spiritual currents inward. It’s a wonderful month for meditation and quiet practice.
what to do with it
Be patient and build. Start doing something disciplined after the 19th. While Mercury is still retrograde, keep your communications calm and reaffirm. And above all else, resist the urge to force an outcome financially around the 20th, when Jupiter squares off with Pluto. The planets provide support. Our job is to approach it with humility and remain as always centered in our spiritual practice.
For those following the markets, the Jupiter-Pluto opposition set against the earth and the web of constellation trines is exactly the kind of placement we study in depth. Check out our financial astrology case study to learn more.
