Important points

  • The only peace signing is until June 9th when Jupiter conjuncts Venus in Cancer
  • At present, serious conflicts are breaking out in Africa as well, and it is not easy to resolve the issues of Lebanon and Israel.
  • Some patterns suggest oil prices will be between $138.00 and $140.00 this spring.
  • Most Volatile Period: May 22-28 – Prepare for shocks, reversals and liquidity squeezes
  • I might buy some extra cans when I shop for fall/winter

Most volatile period: May 22-28. Sun conjunct Uranus, Venus square Neptune, Pluto square Mars, Saturn square Venus — prepare for shocks, reversals, and tight liquidity by the end of the month.

Planetary Highlights for May 2026

  • Mercury Burning until Sunday: May 1st to May 26th
  • Mercury square Pluto: Until May 5th
  • Pluto stationary retrograde: May 6th
  • Mars to Aries: May 12th to June 20th
  • Sun conjunct Mercury (Kazimi): May 14th
  • Sun enters Taurus: May 14th
  • Venus enters Gemini: May 15th
  • Saturn in Revati (Pisces 16°40′-29°59′): May 17th

  • Pluto squares Mars: May 26th
  • Saturn Square Venus: May 28th

Geopolitics and the Cycle of War

The only sign for peace is until June 9th, when Jupiter conjuncts Venus in Cancer. We thought this was the Ukraine/Russia window, but so far it appears to be the Iran/US window. I have no expectations for Mars in Aries after May 12th. This is because in addition to Pluto stopping retrograde on May 6th, it will cause further invasions. Serious conflicts are currently brewing in Africa, and Lebanon/Israel is not an easy solution.

Regime change is not expected until 2027, and Iran is willing to inflict economic pain on its people to survive, while American consumers and the Republican Party cannot cope with rising gas prices. The cycle of seasonal high gasoline prices is expected to continue through at least June and July, leaving refineries around the world struggling anyway, even if oil prices fall. Some patterns suggest oil prices will be between $138.00 and $140.00 this spring.

The long-term effects of Hormuz have to do with the transportation of fertilizers, affecting food production and leading to problems in the fall and winter after Jupiter leaves the “food sign” of Cancer. I might buy some extra cans as I shop for fall and winter.

May overview

May begins with a tense information cycle as Mercury is combusted by the Sun from May 1st to May 26th. This could create market tension, especially from May 9th to May 19th. Mercury burns are typically positive for commodity price expansion and are generally positive for grains, at least from May 6th to May 10th. There is a rule that you should never aggressively short while mercury is burning, and that is in the bearish sign of Aries. With Mercury in Aries and square Pluto entering May 5th, world politics may be characterized by sharp rhetoric, pressure campaigns, cyber or intelligence themes, and aggressive negotiation tactics.

Until May 14th, Venus in Taurus is one of this month’s stabilizing signs, supporting tangible assets, food, land, agriculture, metals, luxury goods, and value-oriented sectors. The Saturn-Venus sextile on May 2 adds a conservative, disciplined vibe that can favor defensive positioning, dividend themes, and pragmatic financial negotiations.

Pluto goes retrograde on May 6th, reinforcing themes of power, debt, secrecy, and institutional control. Financially, Pluto stations are often correlated with pressure on leverage, banking stress, sovereign debt, taxes, or hidden risks. May may expose structural weaknesses beneath strong index-level performance. Since oil inflation is unstoppable, it is questionable whether interest rates will be cut again.

Mars entering Aries from May 12th to June 20th is one of the most powerful signs of the month. In the markets, Mars in Aries may support risk-taking and momentum trading, but it also increases volatility risks in crude oil, defense stocks, industrial metals, transportation, and speculative technology.

Mid-month brings a change as the Sun conjuncts Mercury on May 14th, as the Sun enters Taurus, and Venus moves into Gemini on May 15th. Markets are trying to revalue growth, inflation and profit expectations at more consistent values. Venus in Gemini likes trade, media, advertising, and short-term deals, but can scatter beliefs.

The most volatile period appears around May 22nd to 28th. The Sun conjunct Uranus on May 22 signals shocks, surprises, technological advances, and sudden market reversals. Venus square Neptune on the same day, which could cause disruption to currencies, luxury goods, entertainment, cryptocurrencies, and sentiment-driven assets. Pluto’s square to Mars on May 26th will be confrontational, potentially intensifying geopolitical or economic stress. Saturn squares Venus on May 28, signaling a calmer end to the month as liquidity tightens and consumer optimism wanes.

Stock market and financial cycle

We have overlooked the importance of Mercury/Pisces in Gemini and Parivartana Yoga in Jupiter in the stock market. Jupiter is aspecting Rahu in Aquarius, the home of technology and biotechnology, and the market has gone up. Although Jupiter will still have a positive aspect to Rahu till late May, the market is currently overbought and is poised for a pullback until at least May 11, if not until May 15 (estimated from S&P’s Cash 7220, Max Cash 6840).

The stock market could still make new highs in late June and early July, potentially reaching 8100 for the S&P, which is a little surprising. In late July, the Jupiter-Pluto opposition will cause problems to erupt across the country, potentially causing significant unrest. We still see weakness towards the end of the decade.

Outlook by sector

crude oil and energy

Crude oil needs to fall below 92.50 for a sell signal. If it breaks above 120.00, it will be between 138.00 and 140.00, making gasoline the highest price in the June cycle. Long-term oil models suggest $178, $207, and $225 over the next few years. The top of the inflation cycle is expected to arrive in April 2027.

interest rate

Short-term interest rates may fall temporarily in early May, but oil inflation is not going away. The conjunction of Saturn and Neptune indicates continued financial instability. As global debt mounts, long-term interest rate pressure will continue to rise from late 2026 until May 2027. Inflation is expected to peak in April 2027.

metal

Gold and silver have already outperformed expectations, but big moves are often followed by months of consolidation. The next cycle high will be in October 2026. Gold’s seasonal lows often come in early August, after which gold rekindles with the Sun in Leo. If you have a holiday in late June or July, you may have the opportunity to buy silver for $54.00 and gold for $3,600 to $4,000. The long cycle supports silver towards $148-155 and $225 next year, and gold towards $10,800 in 2028.

cryptocurrency

Bitcoin is running out of time to break above 81,000 and should fall along with NQ 100 in mid-May. The company is aiming for 99,000 people, aiming for a high in late June, but there are concerns that it will fall further in October and November. A two-week pullback is expected around May 15th. The long-term upside target is around $225,000 in 2027-2028.
