Reviewed: Ziip’s Zit-Zapping Dot Device

Thanks to Melanie Simon, founder of ZIIP Beauty, there is a new high-tech way to deal with cream-free acne. Naturally, as someone who is prone to acne and is a huge Simon fan, I knew I had to try out her latest pocket-sized jit zapping device (named that circular dot). Simon is a pioneer in her field as an aesthetician. If you have skin problems, we can almost guarantee that she has created an electrical waveform to fix it. Like ZIIP Hello Device ($400), DOT uses specially created current and nanocurrent waveforms, but this time it releases acne-removing charge that works to cleanse the skin over time.

I’ve been a religious Hello user for a few years now, but that’s it Large scale Thin lines, swelling, under-eye pouches, acne, dark circles, and my tone difference. Yes, it’s expensive, but I’ll tell my fellow beauty lovers, one device you should invest in, if you decide to raise ante with your beauty routine.

What about ZIIP Dot Zap acne?

If you’re not familiar with ZIIP’s innovative technology, Simon has created an exclusive waveform called Nanocurrent that is present in all devices. “NanoCurrent works in harmony with the body’s own electrical system and works with the natural energy that flows through the skin,” Simon tells who wears what. “Applying it dramatically accelerates the skin’s healing process. This can benefit everything from inflammation to signs of aging.” Simon once described NanoCurrent to me, calling it a message that locks microcurrents into the skin. It helps the skin build up more collagen and elastin. But what I didn’t know was that you could use NanoCurrent to help treat acne. Simon said, “In dot treatments, we use nanocurrents in particular to soothe redness and dryness that follows a breakout, helping the skin recover faster and more smoothly. However, its versatility is far beyond acne. Problem solver waveforms.”

Note that ZIIP Halo devices contain a process called problem solvers that essentially utilize the same technology as DOT. However, dots are half the price of Hello and are particularly focused on acne, making it a great option for those who want to save a little money but want to seriously consider clearing acne. Halo works in conjunction with ZIIP apps, but dots don’t need that. Perfect for quick use in a pinch or for traveling.

Simon says acne scars contain positive charges. Therefore, in addition to nanocurrents, the DOT problem solver microcurrent frequency suppresses scratches at negative frequencies. NanoCurrent speeds up the natural healing process of your skin. When used consistently together, it removes acne and promotes healthier, more elastic skin.

My review of ZIIP dots

Halo Problems I’m used to using solver frequencies, but I need to note that running the device over active scratches can make you feel pinch or zap. It’s a bit offensive, but that means it’s working. Once I opened the device, I immediately loved how small it was. All you have to do is place it on the gel (which comes with your device), press the power button, and start running on your skin and the entire problem area.

I’ve used the problem solver before, so after using the device a few times I realized that I didn’t really feel anything zapped or tingly. In other words, it turns out that it is not brewed under the surface of the skin. You don’t need to use the device across your face, but you have super-acne-prone skin that will leave you ahead of potential cycle-related breakouts and future breakouts in general. This turns out to work very well. Simon also recommends completely purifying the skin after treatment to remove residual bacteria in the skin that have been pulled out from the pores by treatment. As long as I’m doing this, I’ve found it to suppress potential cleansing that may occur after treatment.

to be honest. My Beauty Editor can Be maximalist, I’ve been trying to streamline my beauty routine, but if you already have a Hello device or are considering getting it, I’ll tell you to stick to it. Dot is great for those who just want to focus on clearing acne and have a little more budget, but Halo gives your back IMO more. I’m obsessed with Halo because I offer so many different treatments (including problem solvers) that target acne, uneven tone, aging, and more. However, both of these devices are great. Dots actually work for breakouts. As you can see from the photo below, taken after two weeks of use. I struggle after post-inflammatory pigmentation, but I can see that my breakouts have been significantly reduced.

Overall, ZIIP devices are absolutely worth an investment and I always just say the best things about Simon and her work. My skin is not where I am today without the help of her amazing device. This new addition to the lineup is a powerful tool to add to your mix if you’re struggling with breakouts.
