Pearl barley
I’m sure you didn’t know this: pearl barley is a perfect form of protein, like an egg. That’s right! It contains all nine amino acids and can only be obtained from your diet. So, if you’re not vegan or eating eggs, pearl barley will add perfect to your diet. It is also anti-inflammatory, which is great if you suffer from the skin in question. Plus, it’s rich in dietary fiber, making it perfect for keeping your digestion and skin clear and healthy. Contains B-complex vitamins with iron, calcium, potassium and zinc. Quinoa
Remember when Quinoa suddenly started poping up all of it? That replaced couscous overnight! Well, I’m happy that I could do that. Unlike pearl barley, quinoa is not a grain, it is completely gluten-free. This means it could be a really useful alternative to cereals, pasta and rice. It is high in protein, low in carbohydrates, and a great source of amino acids, high in fiber, boosts metabolism and keeps the skin clearer. They also have skin-friendly vitamins that make all the difference. Plus, it’s very filling so if you’re trying to control the size of your portions or try not to overdo it with a pudding, this is a great aspect for your main. It’s a great base for pork bowls and salads too!
