When Disney’s live-action version of Moana hits theaters on July 10, 2026, the popular ocean adventure has transcended the screen and ushered in a new wave of island-inspired fashion and collectibles, even influencing one of summer’s most popular trends: espadrilles.

Of course, we’re talking about HeyDude’s latest release, the women’s “Moana” shoe, which puts a Disney twist on this classic warm-weather silhouette.

Optimized with the brand’s signature HeyComf cushioning, the Moana espadrilles benefit from a breathable cotton linen upper, a removable insole depicting Moana riding waves with a spear, and a flexible EVA outsole.

Available on Amazon in adult sizes 5-12, the stepper is further embellished with Polynesian motifs and colorful floral appliqués, tapping into another rising star in the shoe world: 3D floral prints seen on celebrities like Zara Larsson. Elastic laces provide a more comfortable fit and are embellished with seashell beads, further extending the Moana reference.

In honor of Catherine Laga’aia’s film adaptation, the HeyDude range takes the espadrille to the next level with limited-edition branding on each tongue (because sometimes the strength lies beneath the surface).

So what are our favorite elements? The rope material that wraps around the midsole is a trademark of espadrilles. Originating in Spain, this style has become a favorite among editors, influencers, celebrities and more, and is praised for its comfort and wearability in flat or high wedge shapes, on everything from concrete and grass to sand.

HeyDude’s “Moana” slip-ons aren’t the first shoe released in collaboration with Disney over the past few months. In June, characters from Toy Story 5 were brought to life by Clove’s collection of Woody, Buzz, and Jessie-themed sneakers.
