Best Spring Styles From Designer Brands to Shop at Macy’s
Here’s the truth: When you think of Macy’s, there’s a good chance your memory goes directly to the time you hunted for a prom dress in the Juniors’ section and got a quick, post-purchase snack in the mall food court with your mom. While it’s true that the circa-1858 department store was able to most deeply embed itself in society via a looming presence in malls nationwide, Macy’s is experiencing a rebrand of sorts (call it a renaissance) that’s making the fashion set do a double take.
As of late, Macy’s has been busy expanding its roster of labels that are deemed “luxury,” or else those that are very much part of the zeitgeist in 2026. Hop on over to macys.com, and you’ll immediately be privy to new-season arrivals from the likes of Miu Miu, Gucci, It-girl-endorsed Free People, Ralph Lauren, Coach, and celebrity-worn Frye: boasting silhouettes, prints, and colorways that take to heart the most recent runway directives.
How this skew towards higher-price-tag goods manifested? Macy’s’ director of editorial content, Dana Cohn, has an answer: “The shift came into focus with Macy’s’ ‘Bold New Chapter’ strategy in 2024, rooted in a deeper understanding of how people shop today. An intentional mix of approximately 60 new additions including fashion names like Avec Les Filles, Reiss, Good American, and Schutz, alongside beauty brands such as Miu Miu, La Mer, Byredo, and Gucci Beauty have been introduced over the past two years. We’re reaching a more style-conscious, discovery-driven customer by [rolling out] in-demand brands alongside the trusted names they already love.”
As someone who writes about shopping, and tracks fashion trends’ ebb and flow closely, for a living, I knew I had to immerse myself into the world of Macy’s right away: this new-and-improved world, that is, versus the one I remembered from my earlier years. That being said, I spent much of the past few months requesting and wearing the hottest Macy’s spring style finds online — Miu Miu’s faux round glasses, seen on everyone from Bella Hadid to Sabrina Carpenter; avant-garde maxi dresses courtesy of Desigual; and more.
Miu Miu Narrow Eyeglasses
Miu Miu’s Miu Regard silhouette debuted on the fashion house’s fall 2023 runway. Since then, the eyeglasses have become synonymous with the “office siren,” “geeky-chic” look that’s still reigning supreme among tastemakers.
This made-in-Italy, tortoiseshell style helped me fit right in with the in-crowd at NYFW. I’m sure I had no one fooled that I actually needed prescription eyewear, but the charmingly bookish appearance the specs created nevertheless upped my confidence on the city streets.

I was mesmerized by just how high-quality the items were, how versatile they ended up being in context of my day-to-day ensembles (for work, date nights, trips abroad, you name it), as well as, once again, how intimately they understood the present fashion landscape and what women actually want.
Per Cohn, that last part is a strategic choice. “Runway sets the direction, but the focus is always about translating trends into something more wearable for everyday,” she tells WWD. “For spring, that means refreshed everyday silhouettes, linens, stripes, and statement accessories.”

Naadam V-Neck Sleeveless Vest
I’ve been a Naadam devotee even before discovering its treasure trove of 100-percent-cashmere gems at Macy’s. This V-neck in particular served as the end-all and be-all transitional-weather staple for me in late March and all through April.
With its ribbed finish, sleeveless style, and classic fit, the sweater shell is meant to be layered when the weather calls for it (see below for reference). On warmer days, though, I wore it solo — teamed up with straight-leg jeans, a leather shoulder bag, and my best white sneakers, effectively nailing a quiet-luxury, girl-about-town aesthetic.
Then, I gifted it to my mom. Daughters, take notes.

In short, Macy’s seeks to blend the familiar with the premium in this new era of business, all while providing potential buyers with the smoothest and most intuitive e-commerce journey possible. What this means: Women are easily able to sort the site’s selections by whatever it is they’re on the market for, be it new denim, a corp-core blazer, swimsuits for Euro Summer, or a well-deserved handbag upgrade. Fresh, season-aligned categories like “Classic Coastal,” the “Linen Shop,” and “Vacation Shop” abound.

Desigual Collage Asymmetrical Dress
I have to admit I’m mildly obsessed with the Spanish-born Desigual, whose eclectic designs never fail to amaze and inspire sartorial creativity. So imagine how excited I was when receiving the brand’s Collage Dress — a veritable objet d’art with an asymmetrical hem, waist-accentuating side ruching, and a collage print that intersperses florals with typed mementos.
While taking the dress all around town, I realized a key thing: The Desigual bestseller achieves that elusive balance between formal yet never-drab, outspoken yet never-overblown. Another perk? As a shorter girl, at 5’2″, I didn’t feel like the dress was swallowing me whole, and its tailoring landed at all the right spots — skimming the skin and turning heads in the process.

Frye Melissa Leather Boot
Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo, Kaia Gerber, and Lady Gaga have at least one thing in common: They all own a pair of boots from Frye, the oldest continuously operating footwear brand in the U.S. This Melissa model is a crowd favorite for a reason — it’s structured, sophisticated, impressively cushioned, and composed of cream-of-the-crop leather that will last you for many years (if not decades) of careful wear.
The boot was my salvation during 20,000-step days on a press trip to Lisbon and Porto, where I didn’t think twice about putting it on under baggier jean styles and tricking passerby into thinking it was an ankle boot. As for that comfort aspect, the Melissa more than lived up to all of its promises. Not one blister made its way onto my feet, and my toes felt free to move around even with the shoe’s regular versus wide fit.

So too has Macy’s unveiled a beta AI feature on its website, called “Ask Macy’s.” You’ll find it right on the homepage, and the virtual shopping assistant will be able to answer questions from “what should I buy my mom who’s obsessed with designer perfume?” to “what shoes should I wear to my best friend’s wedding?”

Propelling digital growth at Macy’s are also its efforts to spotlight (and revitalize) in-house clothing lines. On 34th is one of them, and it just partnered with Molly Rogers — the Emmy Award–winning costume designer behind both “The Devil Wears Prada” films and other cultural heavy hitters like “Sex and the City” — on a collection of New York City–inspired threads that “reimagin[e] Rogers’ most memorable looks throughout her career,” according to a press release. You can officially shop the scarf halter tops, subway-print button-ups, Miranda Priestly–approved pinstripe blazers, and pointed-toe slingbacks at macys.com.
A further element of newness for Macy’s is the yearlong “Celebrations Start at Macy’s” initiative, which kicked off earlier this year. What the heritage retailer is ringing in exactly? The centennial of its legendary Thanksgiving Parade and the 50th anniversary of its spectacular fireworks show on Fourth of July. On the celebratory agenda for 2026 are special in-store events, “surprise and delight moments” through online channels, and limited-edition activations that will encourage individuals to keep Macy’s at the heart of all their celebrations: from prom to Mother’s Day and beyond.

En Saison Abigail Midi Slip Skirt
There’s nothing more French-coded than a midi skirt peppered with monochrome polka dots — to be worn with your prettiest kitten heels, woven flats, and everything in between. Enter: the Abigail Midi Slip Skirt from En Saison, a buzzy, contemporary womenswear label that frequently sells out at Macy’s.
By far, this was the Macy’s piece I wore most in the recent past: flaunting it at Broadway shows, work meetings, and happy hours in various permutations with my other spring apparel. I was especially a fan of complementing the skirt’s black-and-white color palette with lightweight, jewel-toned cardigans, but you really can’t go wrong here. Sleek, silky, and swishy, it will soon become your weekly non-negotiable (and is something that can be donned all through spring, summer, and even fall if styled right).

Ultimately, Macy’s is proof of concept for a simple idea: “High-end” and “accessible” no longer have to be mutually exclusive, and the latter word need not bear a negative connotation. Ready to give your seasonal wardrobe a long-overdue refresh? Here’s even more to shop at Macy’s for the warm-weather months — customer-loved and editor-vetted.
