Everyone’s favorite chaotic detective is back on the case. Today, Paramount+ revealed the premiere date and first look for Season 2 of Diarra From Detroit, the hilarious suspense series from creator, writer, executive producer and award-winning actress Diarra Kilpatrick. The eight-episode second season will world premiere on Paramount+ with two episodes on Wednesday, July 29, followed by one new episode every Wednesday until September 9.
Season 2, produced by and starring Kilpatrick, follows Diarra Brickland as she tries unsuccessfully to spend her sexy girl’s summer without getting caught up in yet another unscrupulous and highly dangerous Detroit mystery. This time, what begins as a seemingly innocuous furniture retrieval mission quickly spirals into a triple murder investigation, a city-wide treasure hunt, and a new journey deep into Detroit’s criminal underworld. While Diarra tries to sort out her messy relationship situation, she instead ends up infiltrating secret societies, starring in Tubi movies, chasing urban legends, dodging gang wars, and uncovering secrets buried beneath the city itself. Of course she is.
The series stars Kilpatrick, Dominque Perry, Brian Terrell Clark, and John Chaffin, with Shannon Wallace, Phylicia Rashad, and Harry Lennix also joining the cast. The new season will also feature an all-star cast of guest stars including Cliff “Method Man” Smith, Morris Chestnut, Glynn Turman, Bokeem Woodbine, Amber Riley, Lil Rel Howery, Lovie Simone, Shonika Shandai, Nikko Annan, Skira Baby, Iceware Vezzo, Chris “CP” Powell, and Jude Demorest.
The series will be executive produced by Kilpatrick, Kenya Barris, and Miles Orion Feldsott, who also serves as showrunner, and produced by BET Studios and Karabo Inc. Society.

After its debut, Dear from Detroit quickly emerged as one of the year’s biggest hits, winning praise for its highly original blend of comedy, mystery, and unapologetically Detroit storytelling. Rolling Stone called the series “a showcase of murder mystery, romance, comedy, and a star in the making,” while Variety praised it as “a hilarious, chaotic PI drama with flair.” Named one of the “Top 10 Shows of the Year” by Deadline, Rolling Stone, and The Hollywood Reporter, the series also earned multiple nominations from both the NAACP Image Awards and the Independent Spirit Awards, and Kilpatrick won the Gracie Award for Breakthrough Role (Drama) by an Actress for her performance.
