An Ohio teen accused of pulling down the skirt and underwear of a transgender woman at Cedar Point amusement park in front of bystanders, including children, has been banned from all Six Flags stores and appeared in court for the first time to face charges in the case.
Marquez D. Williams, 18, appeared in Sandusky Municipal Court on Wednesday, June 3, and pleaded not guilty to charges of persistent disorderly conduct, obstruction of official business, resisting arrest and theft. Prosecutors dropped the initial public indecency charge.
The court also ordered Williams to have no contact with the woman involved in the incident.
The incident stems from an alleged assault that occurred on May 26 in Cedar Point. According to the police report, the woman stated that Officer Williams approached her from behind without saying anything, then pulled down her skirt and underwear, exposing her buttocks and genitals to those in the vicinity. She reportedly told police she believed she was targeted because she is transgender.
After the incident, Williams fled through an amusement park parking lot and a manhunt began, according to officers. Police eventually used a Taser and took him into custody after he ignored repeated commands to stop. There were also reportedly witnesses to the incident, including children.
In addition to the criminal charges, Williams was permanently banned from all Six Flags parks. “Cedar Point is a family-friendly environment and we do not tolerate disruptive or inappropriate behavior,” a Cedar Point spokesperson said.
