This may seem counterintuitive, as LGBTQ people have a complicated relationship with faith due to their very real histories of abuse, trauma, and violence.

This violence continues in the United States, especially after the Supreme Court’s March 2026 ruling. Chiles vs. Salazar Although Colorado’s ban on conversion therapy for minors has been ruled a violation of the First Amendment, not everyone has encountered this violence, nor have those who have faced it completely dissociated themselves from their religion. Many may seek to affirm the faith traditions prevalent in the DMV area.
