I don’t know anyone who doesn’t love and adore Michelle Obama. She’s smart, skilled, funny, kind, caring, and stunningly beautiful, but her beauty is the least interesting thing about her.
Michelle’s husband summed it up: on video Last week, he said, “I have a very sexy wife. She’s taught me many times when I think I’m right but I’m wrong. So she’s always correcting me. I think that’s made me more humble and always trying to better myself.”
There’s no question that Michelle has made her husband a better person and a better president. When I look at them now or read about them, I feel a deep yearning for them and for her.
That’s why what happened sunday nightI was pissed and furious on the stage built on the South Lawn of the White House for a $60 million UFC fight to coincide with Donald Trump’s 80th birthday.

My mother always said that empty barrels make the most noise, and she’s never been more right than when it comes to hollow, empty barrels. heavyweight fighter Josh Hokit, In a live interview with Joe Rogan, he thanked God and Trump (I’m sure God was mad too!) and then, without any provocation, turned to the camera and said, “Michelle Obama is a man. Am I right, America?”
The reaction from the crowd was mixed, with some booing, stunned silence and laughter. All Logan said was, “Ladies and gentlemen, Josh Hokit.”
And of course, Donald Trump was also seen half smile. To the credit of UFC CEO Dana White, called a comment He said it was “disgusting and untrue” and that he disliked “that kind of nonsense.”
The White House made no attempt to directly address this. But another very empty barrel, former FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino, told TMZ He found it “interesting”. On the contrary, and of course, john stewart said Hokit was a “F-ing A-hole.”
That’s to say the least.
And the lies that have been spread for years in right-wing corners of the internet, the insults that have fueled gendered transphobia. was also thrown WNBA star Brittney Griner took center stage and was tacitly blessed by Trump’s rotten grin.

As everyone knows, this was not a one-off. President Trump himself used the tool in February. I posted a video Truth Social superimposed the faces of Barack and Michelle Obama on a cartoon monkey set to “The Lion Sleeps Tonight.”
The White House initially defended it as a joke, but after more empty barrels appeared, Sen. Tim Scott removed it. called it The most racist thing he’s seen from this administration. Trump never apologized.
Yes, I know Michelle Obama preached that when people are down, we get high, but with all due respect, I’m not going to do that here. She may refrain from being depressed, but I don’t.
Relatively speaking, Michelle Obama is the antithesis of everything Donald Trump is. She’s sensationally gorgeous. He looks like a rotting, bug-infested gourd. She’s very smart. Trump is a mediocre, brainless blobfish. She exudes grace and compassion. Trump exudes disgrace and condemnation.
I could do this all day long, but you get the point.
The insults towards Michelle Obama are full of contempt. They are about her gender, race, body, and femininity. These are the oldest tools known to racist white men to put powerful black women in their place.
It’s no mystery why Michelle Obama is the subject of so much right-wing ire. It’s all about her that the Trump administration is outraged by.
She is America’s most consistently admired woman. Gallup named her Since 2018, she has been ranked the country’s most admired woman in poll after poll, but Melania Trump has never come close.
And if you think I’m being harsh about comparing Melania’s husband to Michelle Obama, don’t start comparing Melania and Michelle. But let me tell you one thing: Michelle has never sued an LGBTQ+ organization for speaking out on their behalf. On the other hand, Melaniaamusingly prosecuted $250,000 to show up to a Log Cabin Republican (lots of empty barrels!) fundraiser.

To Melania’s musty Belvita, Michelle is Gruyère.
Michelle’s refined composure is also let her sit down Every year, he stands next to George W. Bush at his state funeral. It’s a friendship built on shared grief and a shared sense of humor that led to the viral hugs and slipped altoids at John McCain’s funeral.
She made it clear that she and Mr. Bush “differ on policy,” but “we don’t disagree on human nature.” It’s the kind of bipartisan grace that will all but disappear in 2026, and is the opposite of Donald and Melania’s coldness and shrillness.
Charmingly, Michelle is just a Chicago kid who grew up watching Cubs games with her dad.mixed marriageShe jokes that her husband has White Sox blood in his veins.
Compare this to Donald and Melania foaming at the mouth at Sunday night’s bloody sporting event.
It’s worth remembering the night marriage equality became law in 2015, President Obama’s White House lit up in rainbow colors during June and Pride Month, and Michelle Obama and her daughter Malia getting married. I secretly went outside and looked. A celebratory moment from the lawn, she later described it in her wonderful memoir, Becoming.
of obama administration We also hosted the LGBTQ+ Pride Month Reception at the White House for the sixth year in a row. It’s worth pointing out again that President Trump’s White House is not hosting any Pride events, just hosting UFC fighters using the Octagon as a bullhorn to bully Michelle.
This “joke” by Hokit is by no means a one-off, and sends a signal far beyond the octagon. This article tells all the trolls, all the “manosphere” podcasters, all the people who have been claiming for a decade that the Black First Lady is “really” a man, that they were right to keep saying it, and that there is no price to pay for repeating it.
Michelle Obama has written about hearing this particular insult for years and choosing to laugh it off rather than respond with a dignified response. That self-control is beyond praise. It’s not necessary, and no one should be misled into thinking that lying is harmless.
This Thursday, obama presidential center It will open to the public in Chicago, fittingly close to the Juneteenth anniversary. The center tells the story of the first black president and the women who stood by his side.
Their legacy is one we should focus on and celebrate this week. Throughout your eight years as president, your marriage, and your partnership, you have made me very proud to be an American.
Michelle Obama happens to be an exemplary human being who is dazzling inside and out. She doesn’t have to respond to empty barrels of “holes” that squeak out discrimination and hatred.
We can do that for her, and so can I.
