JK Rowling has come under fire for sharing a photo of a trans woman taken at an angle that shows what’s underneath her skirt.
The author posted the image to his X account on July 11, below a long thread of screenshots of previous posts written by a woman named Frieda Wallace.
The image shows Ms Wallace wearing fishnet stockings and a short skirt, sitting on a chair with one leg crossed over the other.
Rowling misgendered Wallace in the caption, writing, “Sadly, Fred refuses to argue with me. To prove that I’m not having hard feelings and that Fred is actually involved with some lucky ladies, here’s a photo of him arguing.” [Helen Joyce]. It seems that it left an unforgettable impression on the audience. And the chair too. ”
The debate referenced was hosted by the Institute for Economic Research in 2023 on the theme “Does transgender ideology threaten liberal values?”
In the discussion video description, Joyce is listed as “former financial editor of The Economist and author of The Economist.” Trans: When ideology meets reality Wallace is listed as a political commentator, freelance writer, and advocacy director for Sex Matters. gender is unclear Podcast”.
Peter Tatchell, a gay rights activist, and Mark Glendenning, head of culture at the IEA and author of the agency’s transgender ideology report to be published in 2023, were also in attendance.
Rowling’s post was criticized, with one X user writing, “Would anyone ever post a photo like this of a cis woman? What would they think of a man who posted a photo like this of a woman? So what makes you think it’s okay to post this photo of a trans woman?”
“Fred was present at a public event that was filmed with the knowledge of all participants,” Rowling responded. “Fred opted for fishnet stockings and a miniskirt. Fred was bragging on stage about what he was doing with a woman’s penis. This photo may make you uncomfortable, but Fred is a perverted exhibitionist who was having the time of his life.”
The original commenter further added, “Have you ever noticed that you do exactly what men do to shame and degrade women who they think are too loud, too provocative, politically challenging, or don’t dress modestly enough? (See Angela Reiner, for example).”
In response to Rowling’s original post, another X user commented: “You’re a terrible bully. What a sad woman.”
