Hayden Panettiere denies ‘abandoning’ daughter amid addiction issues

Hayden Panettiere has hit back at accusations that he “abandoned” his 11-year-old daughter while battling addiction and postpartum depression.

of heroes The icon, who came out as bisexual last week, shares daughter Kaya with boxer Wladimir Klitschko after dating on and off from 2009 to 2018. Panettile handed over custody of his daughter to Klitschko in 2018, citing conflicts.

Now, speaking of the latest episode. Deliberately podcastthe 36-year-old slammed claims that she just “abandoned” her infant daughter.

She said: “It breaks my heart that anyone would think I could just give up my child and be okay with it.”

“This couldn’t be further from the truth,” the actress continued, adding, “After years of battling depression, anxiety, alcoholism, drug abuse, and just me trying to figure out how to get back together, I became this horrible cycle.”

Panettiere explained that when Kaya was two years old, Klitschko asked her to live with him in Ukraine.

“I didn’t have a good reaction to it. I felt like a mother lion. I could burn down the world for my child. So it was incredibly difficult.”

Since then, Kaya has grown to live a “beautiful life,” making friends and participating in activities such as horseback riding and learning five languages.

“When I finally got healthy, I felt it was unfair and selfish to try to take her away from this life she had created for herself,” Panettiere said.

She said the two now have an “incredible relationship” and Panettiere plans to visit her whenever possible. When we can’t visit, we “spend a lot of time on FaceTime.”
