Three years after his farewell tour ended, Elton John has announced that he will be returning from retirement to perform two shows.
The performer is scheduled to perform two performances in Mexico City in October 2026.
in social media messagesJohn told fans, “I’m excited to announce that I’ll be performing two nights at Banorte Stadium on October 2nd and 3rd. Mexico City has always had a special place in my heart.”
He said the dates are especially important since he was absent from the region during his last show, adding, “It was really disappointing not being able to tour Latin America during the farewell tour due to the pandemic, so this return is especially meaningful.”
John also wrote, “I’m thrilled to finally be able to share this special moment with my fans after so many years.”
farewell tour schedule
John announced his Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour in 2018, a 330-date tour.
At the time, he explained his decision to pull out of touring: “The time has come for me to step away from touring in order to fully embrace the next important chapter in my life,” adding, “I need to devote more time to raising my children.”
A UK show scheduled for 2020 was postponed due to the pandemic, and the tour ultimately ended in 2023. His last performance in the UK was at Glastonbury Festival 2023, where he headlined.
Health and recent headlines
The announcement follows his defeat in the High Court this week in a privacy case against the publisher of the Daily Mail.
John has also spoken publicly about his health challenges. He revealed in 2024 that he had lost vision in one eye and was also losing sight in the other. In an interview in 2025 variety“The last 15 months have been a trial for me because I lost my right eye and my left eye is not very well, so I can’t see anything, I can’t see anything, I can’t read anything,” he said.
