Eve Riley said NJ.com What began as a controversy over her friend’s hanging dog escalated into harassment. Riley says the man tried to knock her down, whipped her with a towel and threw sand multiple times while using anti-trans slur while calling her a “freak.” At one point she remembered and he told her to “take it.” [her] medicine. ”

While Gunnison is known as the only nude beach in the state, Riley emphasized that all involved were dressed during the encounter. She recorded some of the incident and later filed a complaint with Gateway National Recreation Area Police, confirming that the report was filed and stated that an investigation was underway, NJ.com reports. The man’s identity has not been released.

Also, seasonal rules will prohibit dogs on seaside beaches between March 15th and September 15th, protecting nesting share birds. Outside that window, since September 16th, dogs have been allowed on beaches facing the sea. Riley said her friend’s dog was covered in leash and it was within the permitted season range of the area New York City Manhattan skyline in the distance.

According to glaad’s The latest alert desk report showed that between May 2024 and May 2025 there were 932 documented anti-LGBTQ+ incidents nationwide. This averages more than two per day. More than half of those targeted are transgender; Non-binary people. During that same period, at least 84 people were injured and 10 were killed in anti-LGBTQ+-motivated attacks. Report.
