iHeartMedia and Procter & Gamble partner with the Elton John AIDS Foundation to launch the inaugural event. elton john impact awarda new audio special celebrating LGBTQ+ trailblazers, allies, and organizations making a difference around the world.
The podcast-style special, hosted by Billy Porter and Elvis Duran, will premiere June 1 on iHeartRadio PRIDE stations and podcast platforms. The event will spotlight a strong lineup of honorees including Jonathan Bailey, Laverne Cox, Melissa Etheridge, Billie Jean King, Orville Peck, and Chapel Lawn.
And yes, there will also be a special performance by Dove Cameron, who will perform Elton John’s iconic ballad “Your Song” during the broadcast.
Celebrating LGBTQ+ influence
The Elton John Impact Awards aren’t just about celebrity recognition. The event also aims to increase visibility and funding for LGBTQ+ organizations that provide critical services and advocacy. Beneficiaries include GLAAD, The Trevor Project, SAGE, CenterLink, National Black Justice Collective, and Outright International.
“The Elton John Impact Awards spotlight the important work of organizations that protect the LGBTQ+ community and advance health equity around the world,” said David Furnish, Chairman of the Board of the Elton John AIDS Foundation. “As LGBTQ+ rights and health equity remain under threat globally, investing in frontline organizations has never been more urgent.”
Jonathan Bailey, Chappell Lawn and others receive awards
This year’s winners were selected for their influence within and outside of entertainment.
As well as her work in film and theater, Bailey is recognized for starting The Shameless Fund to support LGBTQ+ charities.
Cox remains one of the most visible and outspoken transgender advocates in mainstream media, while Etheridge is celebrated for decades of LGBTQ+ activism through music and storytelling.
Meanwhile, Orville Peck’s queer reimagining of country music and Chapel Lawn’s outspoken advocacy for LGBTQ+ rights and transgender youth have made both artists cultural forces for a new generation of queer fans.
Elton John looks back on LGBTQ+ history
Elton John also appears during the special and reflects on the importance of defending LGBTQ+ stories and continuing the fight for equality.

“These conversations bring together those who have shaped LGBTQ+ culture and fought for dignity at a time when the world too often turned a blind eye,” Elton said. “I have friends who have stood by me through the AIDS crisis, and others who are leading the way with a new generation.”
