More than 100 organizations have issued travel advisories for the United States ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
The World Cup will be held from June 11th to July 19th in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
“Given the deteriorating human rights record in the United States and the lack of meaningful action or concrete assurances from FIFA, host cities, or the U.S. government, the undersigned organizations are issuing this travel advisory for fans, players, journalists, and other visitors traveling to and within the United States for the FIFA Men’s World Cup in June 2026. The World Cup matches will be held in 11 different cities in the United States, which, like many other regions, has already been targeted by President Trump. “The impact of these policies will vary by region,” reads an April 23 advisory from the World Council for Equality and other groups, including the American Civil Liberties Union.
“While the Trump administration’s rising authoritarianism and escalating violence pose serious risks to everyone, immigrant communities, racial and ethnic minority groups, and LGBTQ+ people have been and continue to be disproportionately targeted and impacted by the administration’s policies, and therefore are most vulnerable to severe harm when traveling to and within the United States,” the report added. “This travel advisory urges caution for fans, players, journalists and other visitors.”
This recommendation specifically mentions Renee Goode.
On January 7, a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer shot and killed her in Minneapolis. Good, 37, leaves behind a wife and three children.
