Nadis are one of the oldest texts on astrology, sometimes written by sages, sometimes by astrological stalwarts named after planets or foods. In this space we will translate an unheard of nadi called Guru Nadi. This Guru Nadi is mentioned in the Chandra Kala Nadi also known as Deva Kelalam and the author states that certain interpretations are made according to the Guru Nadi. As is clear from the manuscript, Guru Nadi was clearly written by Achyuta and is part of Deva Keralam. Unfortunately, this work was not translated and the general public remained unfamiliar with it. The Guru Nadi was never published, but its manuscript was copied by P. Mavibasabavaradhya and checked by KS Mahantadevana on May 11, 1961, probably from the Madras Oriental Library, and the late CS Patel. Submitted by students to ‘Saptarishi Astrology’. He is now offering it for free to everyone in the manuscript section of the Saptarishi Astrology website. It is interesting to note that some of the Nadi Amshas mentioned in Guru Nadi have different names from those given in ‘Chandra Kala Nadi’ aka Deva Keralam. This book has been posted on the Saptarishi website for translation by Sanskrit scholars, and I have undertaken this translation work to the best of my ability. Some text in the manuscript is difficult to decipher, but I tried to keep it as logical as it looks. The Bhoot Sankhya is used in the calculations mentioned in the manuscript and must be deciphered carefully. Sanskrit uses many similes, codes, and allegories, so I’m sure other interpretations of the text are possible. Therefore, any errors in translation are solely my responsibility.
