Curvy fashionistas, it’s that time again! As the year draws to a close, many of us begin to reflect on what we have accomplished and where we want to grow. A New Year’s resolution is a promise to yourself to make a change, build a habit, or embrace a new way of thinking. But let’s stop and think for a moment. Do you actually make New Year’s resolutions and stick to them?
The science behind New Year’s resolutions
Before we get into your story, let’s find out what the research says about solutions. Research shows that making New Year’s resolutions can be effective. According to positive changean individual who explicitly makes a resolution is 10x more likely to achieve your goals than those who don’t. This statistic highlights the value of setting clear intentions, but it’s not the whole story.
Solutions that are too ambitious or vague often fail. This is where the idea of recruitment comes into play. This year’s theme will appear. Rather than setting rigid goals, themes provide a flexible, comprehensive guide to action. For example, themes like “balance,” “expansion,” and “focus” can influence decision-making across different areas of your life without putting pressure on specific milestones.
Dr. John Norcross Psychologists who study behavior changepoints out that success often comes down to making small sustainable changes and reinforcing them with supportive habits. Using themes can make this process easier and less daunting, helping you stay on track throughout the year.
reconsider the resolution
So far, I’ve been setting resolutions for myself. Some of them were accomplished, but others… well, let’s just say they were deferred to next year. Revisiting past goals is an important part of the process. The act of setting resolutions reflects self-awareness and a desire for growth, even if you don’t accomplish everything you set out to do.
Let’s look back at our own resolutions from last year. Did you achieve what you set out to achieve? What worked and what didn’t? Share your experience in the comments section below. We’d love to hear what helped you stay committed or where you stumbled.
Consider themes instead

If your resolutions are feeling too rigid or overwhelming, why not try setting a theme for 2025? With themes you can:
- provide concentration Without pressure for a specific outcome.
- adapt to change in your life throughout the year.
- encourage creativity In terms of how you pursue personal growth.
For example, if you choose the theme of “happiness,” it can influence how you approach fitness, nutrition, mental health, and even relationships. All decisions are weighed against this guidance, providing direction without the rigidity of traditional resolutions.
TCF’s theme for 2025 is “New Year, MORE You!” my personal The theme is “with Excellence”. As a Virgo with a Libra stellium, I’ve learned that I tend to start many things but never finish them, or fall into the throes of perfectionism. To be a little more productive towards my goal, I “Outstanding” way of thinking.
