Do you like cryptids?Do you like board games? Do you like mysterious board games with cute art? twisted unidentified planet Unstable Games’ game is for you! Founder and designer Ramy Badie’s latest Kickstarter campaign has already pledged over $1.3 million with just one week left to go.

twisted unidentified planet 6 tarot-sized cryptid cards, wilderness board, 82 action cards, 6 cryptid meeples, 20 hidden trait cards, 18 event cards, 18 hidden spot tokens, 18 double-sided mythic tokens, sinkhole tokens , and comes with the first card. player token. There are also 36 human tokens, 9 card dividers, 54 sighting cards, 6 unicorn chaos magic cards, and 1 unicorn meeple.

I love that this game has card separators. I regularly stack my cards from front to back so that I can easily separate them when preparing for a game, but it’s so nice to have an actual separator for each game. The art is by Badie himself and is just as cute as the art. nature’s command.

Gameplay setup!

in twisted unidentified planetplayers can choose to play as one of six cryptids (KS exclusive comes with the first two expansion characters): Bigfoot, Loveland Frog, Mothman, Jackalope, Nessie, and Chupacabra I will. For completionists/collectors, the campaign page details all planned future expansions.

Each cryptid has its own special ability, which can be used once per round with the aim of gaining the most mythic points. To do so, players strategically manage encounters with humans, revealing their presence only when necessary, and aim to maintain control of the six locations available on the wilderness board.

Players hide and stack nine sighting cards into three stacks and place the corresponding hidden spot tokens in the wilderness. If there is an encounter on that site, you must reveal the top card of that stack and resolve whatever is there. There are three “flavors” of humans: hunters, hikers, and researchers, each of which reacts differently to cryptids and gains or loses the player’s mythic points.

Players can also tempt, scare, attract, and extract humans to sway where the next encounter occurs. At the end of five rounds, the cryptid with the greatest mythology is named the true legend.

A human illuminates the footprints of a cryptid with a flashlight while the cryptid hides behind a tree.

You can learn more and see all the cool options on the campaign page, but don’t hide it too long. of Campaign ends October 22nd.
