From his throne on Arako, a powerful and ancient mutant known as Apocalypse recruits Jubilee on a dangerous adventure to secure a mysterious celestial artifact that will once again make its presence felt on Earth. Tomb of the Apocalypse#1 Author Ashley Allen (Magic & Colossus, moon star) and artist Domenico Carbone (Moon Knight Khonshu’s Fist). When an unknown device from Mars crash lands outside the X-Men’s Haven House, Jubilee answers the phone to prove that she is more than just a babysitter to the Outliers. Activated by her mutant powers, this device sends both Jubilee and Wolverine to an Egyptian desert outpost being excavated by armed mercenaries around the world: the Tomb of the Apocalypse. Descending deep into the Earth to uncover what Apocalypse plans for humanity, mutantkind, Earth, and Arakko, they meet longtime allies Rictor and Shatterstar and discover they are not alone.
Allen and Carbone build on long-simmering plot points from years of X-Men storytelling and multiple eras of mutant history to light the way forward, with Jubilee and Wolverine leading the way. How will a former mall rat react when drawn into Apocalypse’s conspiracy, and who else will the X-Men meet in an underground maze filled with puzzles and death? The Tomb of the Apocalypse will be revealed throughout this five-issue limited series, and big changes will be made for those who choose to enter it.
“It took time for Earth’s mutants to regroup and process the fall of Krakoa,” Allen explains. “But unfortunately for our heroes, Apocalypse’s values… action. And he has never missed an opportunity. ”
