Marvel Comics recently announced that an all-new event series, DNX, from Jed McKay and Federico Vicentini will begin in September. The story sees the X-Men and Fantastic Four unite against 3K in a race to stop a group of supervillains who unleash a virus that forcibly, and horrifyingly, turns humans into mutants. DNX, which has been building since the inception of McKay’s activities, will be preceded by two significant introductory chapters this August. X-Men #35 and #36 are full of long-awaited shocking developments.
The X-Men picked up the match with 3K, a cabal of mutant supervillains brought together by a common goal: “Make more mutants.” Their plan involved unleashing the X-Virus onto the world, an event that triggered one of the darkest timelines imaginable for the world. era of apocalypse. Cyclops and the Chairman of 3K, aka the founder of the X-Man Beast, both witnessed the horror and returned home with a new mission. The X-Men were to stop it and 3K was to own it. While the X-Men seek out the Fantastic Four to save their comrades, 3K prepares to unleash the X-Virus on major population centers. X-MEN #35 and #36 by McKay and artists Tony S. Daniel and Neso Diaz connect directly to the story as the X-Men’s current Beast (a young Hank McCoy, returning to a more innocent time in his life) grapples with the dark reflections he sees in the Chairman, while 3K targets Magneto, whose mysterious illness is revealed to be directly linked to the X-Virus.
in X-Men #35, Hank McCoy, the Bouncing Blue Beast, is haunted not by his past, but by his future, and his present. The Chairman of 3K is an aging, immoral version of himself and one of the greatest threats the X-Men have faced since the fall of Krakoa, and Beast must contend with his own terrifying odds.
in X-MEN #36, 3K is working towards a viable build of the X-Virus brought back from the Age of Apocalypse. They’ve been frustrated so far, but the Chairman realizes that the missing piece of the puzzle is inside Magneto, and 3K travels to the X-Men’s headquarters in Alaska.
” X-Men “#35-36 pave the way for DNX, and the Chairman of 3K takes his final first steps into a new world. It’s exciting to write this version of Hank McCoy, completely free of morals and ethics. Putting him on a collision course with the X-Men for DNX will change both the X-Men and 3K going forward!” McKay explained.
