Ronda M. Farrer, MA, DRWA

The more you praise and celebrate your life, the more there is in life to celebrate. – Oprah Winfrey

An unstable situation… economic, otherwise… and the events surrounding us today are overwhelming, to say the least. New strains of war, terrorism, poisoned environment, disease. Economic, political, ecological nightmare, plague of all biblical proportions. Yes..Who really feels like celebrating?

But here we have…the great gift of living…accept the precious gift of life! Why don’t we dare to celebrate? I ask you and yours… why not gather in joy to honor our connection, our communion, our source and our essence…with the spirit and…with God…now? Take dare not to hold each other and reach out to appreciate the breathtaking blessings…and food, shelter, love? It’s like vomiting in the face of life to not celebrate it.

All we have in this world is our lives. We are very grateful to ourselves, those who are lucky, those who are privileged, those who live in this grand world. We owe it to people whose lives and livelihoods have faded…or perhaps it ended completely to respect their existence and their impact on our lives and times. We owe it to the complex universe in order to live a precious and precious life with perfect consciousness, conscience, consciousness and compassion.

And… we owe ourselves to life itself that we wake up with gratitude every morning, and every night, we owe it to life itself that we had humbly respectful, respectful, respectful, respectful, respectful, respectful, respectful, respectful, respectful, respectful, respectful, and even a web of intricately woven beings.

So, what is preventing us from celebrating our lives, regardless of circumstances, circumstances, or events?

Anxiety is probably the answer to that question, the perpetrator who blocks us from living the life we want. You know… we’re worried about the future…it’s not even happening yet. Peace that remains in the present moment is a celebration of its own!

Well, when I faced the next half century safely on the other side of the 50 years ago, it seemed like a good time to make myself a big challenge.

And… I’m approaching my 67th birthday now… I’m grateful for the blessings of my life!

And here… I’m worried about removing that notable trait. It served its purpose when I needed to be extra careful or when I needed to worry about someone I loved. But more often, anxiety caused unnecessary worries, and even suffering. Yes… I went there and did that. And I ended my relationship with anxiety…and referring to my “ex” and affectionate anxiety.

I know it’s not as easy as it says. Anxiety is like a virus that stays for lifelong lives in sections of nerve fibers that innervate the skin. Perfectionism is that perfect host. You have to hit a home run or not play at all. All questions must be answered correctly. Deliver speech perfectly. Execute your business plan accurately. It plays in bed brilliantly. Sleep for 8 hours without waking up. What’s less than that… not perfect…and you risk the meltdown.

If excessive worship is always your default mode, stop being sucked into the eyes of an invisible hurricane. It’s a new season…and the reason is… it’s time to celebrate… rebirth, revive, witty, resonating with life! To thrive, not simply to survive!

And…that worries remain a valuable lesson. Pack enough worrying episodes… you will learn to manage them…and you will see patterns appear. Anxiety itself is not going to kill you. But it doesn’t make life much fun. What kills you is much less ambiguous: brain tumors, heart attacks, Alzheimer’s disease, cancer, suicides, car accidents, and more. You see these bringing friends and family along, gradually, barely aware, you realize that things are going completely, or you are much more concerned about your little mistakes behind you. You cut some slack to yourself. You’re happy that you’re still on the way…and you have a thorough understanding of what a celebratory life is!

? I have learned firsthand that the back of anxiety is excitement…and both are fueled by the same neurotransmitters. So can you choose to see anxiety? As positive, not destructive. In this I take clues from Swedish director Ingmar Bergman. In his autobiography, The Magic Lantern, he wrote that depression itself is not his (and might be expected) and instead is unsettling. He said it “is the most loyal companion of my life, inherited from both my mother and father, and is at the heart of my identity, driving me not only to my demons but to my friends.”

“Anxiety and I remain acquaintances, but what Bergman called my friend is calling my “ex.” Still, we realize that we have to coexist. And if that’s the case, I’m hoping for something in return. It serves as my most effective motivation. This is such a feeling that I was craving work and would let my desk out of bed. Certainly, if I weren’t worried, I wouldn’t be here now, I’m writing this blog… I’m looking for the “perfect” words to describe it.

Ultimately, I had enough experiences of anxiety to feel when it might become destructive. My strategy is to call it on the proverb carpet when it surfaces. I take a step back to the imagined beach as it begins to climb into the waves that threaten to turn the Tidal and bring me down: “Hey! You!” I cried quietly. “I’ll see you come. Goodbye…and thank you for stopping by.” Take a deep breath. I’m standing on my ground. The waves begin to rest, and the swirling wind dies. Something is lifted up. I jump silently and celebrate.

I will join you and do my best I can, but live the life we have as much as possible. L’Chaim! , Yiddish Toast, “To Life!” recognizes and salutes life with all its integrity and complexity. It celebrates everything…good, bad, and ugly… everything we really know is in this moment. Of these, I’m sure!

How beautiful and brave we humans are. We are fully aware of our mortality rates and the dangers surrounding us, but we continue to play the game.

Yes… I’m trying to make things better… Make the most of things… Live as if it is important… because that’s what we do and because we can!

Sing as if no one is listening, dance as if no one is watching, spinning towards perspective, acceptance, compassion, wisdom, grace. Our amazingness… our birthright!

May we walk, talk, and celebrate living. Yes…L’Chaim!
