Happy Sunday everyone. As you’ve probably noticed, we’re definitely getting into the holiday spirit, whether it’s with our gift guides or our Friday Christmas Decor Hack posts. There will probably be some filming going on, so be prepared for that. Is the link okay? wonderful.
This week’s house tour A cool, modern and exciting home. There are a lot of interesting options, so take a look 🙂
From Emily: It’s time for the Fair Isle sweater (adjacent to the holiday sweater, it’s a great alternative for more than just celebratory occasions). Bought This onewarm and soft, and the color is very beautiful. I dressed it up with a miniskirt and tall boots, and of course wore it at home with sweats. It feels more luxurious and luxurious than the price.
From Arlyn: Is it just me or, well, is the quality of everything just getting worse and worse? I used to buy all of my kids’ wardrobes at Target and the quality was really good for the price, but then I moved to Old Navy and Carter’s. The quality of most things is ok (especially the t-shirts…well). But I recently ordered some cold weather essentials from this brand. majorI was surprised by the quality. Sure, they’re a little pricey, so your clothes have to last a long time, but with a 40% off cyber sale sitewide right now, now’s the time to get them all. I especially loved them jogger, Pufferfish, zippy hoodieand long sleeve t-shirt. Honestly, they were so soft and carefully made that I wanted them all for myself!
From Jess: Warning about cool, small brands! That’s how I came across this streetwear brand. Saart StudioI immediately liked its fresh feel. The color palette is muted, the shapes are cool and oversized, and everything is pretty unisex. I signed up for SMS texts so I could be the first to see their new drops. And I’m very happy to have done that. Bought this track sweatpants Have you ever felt cool? lol. I would size down as they are really too big unless you want that look. I think something from this brand would make a great gift for someone who has this style in your life or wants to dabble in it (like me :)). Moreover, you will look very cool knowing about them. The color I bought was pretty much sold out, but I really liked it. thesetoo.
From Catiline: If you’ve been reading this blog for a long time, you know this. she should run away is an organization that is near and dear to my heart. They are a national, nonpartisan group that supports women running for everything from local school boards to the U.S. Senate. If you’ve felt frustrated about the direction of our country over the past year, check it out. 12 Week Local Leader Incubator! They are currently forming a group for 2026. You’ll leave with a concrete plan to solve problems in your community (plus, it’s a low-risk way to figure out if politics is right for you!). We need more women at every level of government – and that means all type of woman, so don’t count yourself out. You are far more qualified than you think and have the power to make your community better. We will be happy to support your campaign 🙂
Also from Caitlin: I really enjoyed this piece. marion mahoney griffin! She was one of the first licensed female architects in America (in fact, the first in Illinois!) and the first employee of Frank Lloyd Wright. I’ve been obsessed with Wright since fourth grade (when I wrote a report on Fallingwater Manor and dressed up as Wright to present it to the class – yes, I was a weirdo), but I didn’t really know about Griffin’s influence on all these iconic buildings. This is a fun and easy to read article about cool women. Please read it.
From Mallory: Everyone! Our good friend Ajay has launched a new home décor brand called. cadbury home!!Please check out her adorable tea towels! I really love anything with little frills. Be sure to follow her new brand too Click here for Instagram! (PS, this would make a great holiday gift).
From Marley: This week I received the following text in our group chat: “What’s your go-to winter shoe that goes with everything? AKA winter flip-flops?” It didn’t take much discussion for everyone to agree that the winter flip-flop is the garden clog. It’s slip-on ready, goes with basically any outfit, and is also waterproof. Obviously they’re not ideal for “snow” or heavy rain situations, but if you’re trudging around town and are a bit wet, they’re pretty effective at keeping your feet dry. As a clog gal myself, I have two pairs of shoes that are my absolute favorites. Plus, all my friends who love garden clogs have them, so I have two pairs to recommend (the only reason I don’t own any is because I simply don’t need more than two pairs of garden clogs…or maybe I do). My everyday favorite pair is this pair – Quite modest and a bit high (not suitable for dangerous ground! You could twist your ankle!!) but very comfortable. I have the black one, but I’ve been eyeing the oxblood color for a while. The shoes I wear almost every day are birkenstock super burki It comes in a very fun powder blue color and appears to be out of print. I’ve had these for at least 4 years now and they are in great condition. I get so many compliments on these shoes, and my favorite way to wear them is to pair them with super neutral outfits and use them as a pop of color. They’re super comfortable and perfect for standing for long periods of time (I’ve heard nurses and food service workers love them too!). Now, I’m going to shoot my friend’s rec. Recycled linen getastill slip-on, but seem a little safer on my feet than my other lek. and, Ugg Tasman clogs (There is also that this color At Nordstrom Rack! ). These come with matching socks that can be removed from the shoes. This is definitely a funky look, but in the best way!!!! It’s so much fun! Whether you are a geta fan or not, if you are unsure, please give it a try.
From Gretchen: This week I did something pretty silly and probably embarrassing to reward myself, but it sparked a little joy inside me so I thought it was worth sharing. One of my favorite movies ever since I was a kid is spice world. There’s something on the air that makes you want to watch it again and again, but unfortunately, it’s one of the select few movies that aren’t available on any streaming platform. If you are familiar with this cinematic masterpiece and adore it as much as I do, then congratulations! You are one of the chosen girl powers! If you were watching this movie and are now rolling your eyes remembering that, I forgive you. If you haven’t been featured yet and would like to learn more, check out the following for yourself. Purchase a physical DVD copy of a movie and Buy a cheap and functional (small and plain) DVD player. I did it and I couldn’t be happier. Admittedly, it’s a bit more expensive than buying/downloading the movie (if you have that option). But there’s something kind of giddy about having this “old school” player at home, filled with your favorite comfort movies, ready to play. The world is feeling very heavy, but this was a silly (relatively) small purchase that brought some brightness into my home. Players are not special. It’s very small so it won’t be an eyesore. It works as intended. But being able to watch this movie whenever you want is a luxury! I would have spent money on that as a kid, that’s for sure.
Thank you for taking the time to talk to me today. See you tomorrow for another great post 😉 xx
