Nude lipstick is having a major moment right now, and though it’s not only hot on red carpets, the 2025 Academy Awards and subsequent after-parties put no shortage of nude lip iterations on full display. The trendiness of nude hues for lips, which has slowly gained momentum since the 2024 Golden Globes, has a lot to do with just how versatile this subtle shade family is. There’s a time and place for a bold red lip, of course, but lip products in the “barely there” genre can match any outfit (from day to night) and complement every skin tone under the sun —. as long as you choose a just-right color match, of course.
At the 2025 Oscars awards ceremony — and the revelries after, as mentioned — everyone from “Best Actress” winner Mikey Madison to Sofia Richie Grange to Lindsay Lohan made us fall in love with nude lipstick all over again, proving that you shouldn’t be afraid to look beyond the predictable pink hue. And it’s not only about lipstick; indeed, layering was achieved by celebrity makeup artists via combinations of lip liners and lipsticks, lipsticks with a top coat of the best lip glosses, and beyond. Despite the varied results, all of Hollywood’s nude lip looks on the night of March 2nd had two things in common: They exuded emulation-worthy elegance and were a testament to the fact that, yes, sometimes less is more.
As soon as A-listers hit the red carpet at the 97th annual Oscars ceremony, our WWD beauty editors started thorough research of the exact lip products celebrity glam teams used, and, luckily for all of us, you can find them at your favorite retailers right now.
Without further ado, here are the most sensational nude lip looks trending at this year’s Oscars and the makeup essentials that got them there. You can thank us later.

Lancôme Lip Idôle Squalane-12 Butterglow Hydrating Lip Balm
This newly released, hydrating, tinted lip balm from Lancôme (in its “26 Don’t Be Chai” shade) was the fuel behind “Only Murders in the Building” actress Da’Vine Joy Randolph’s brown-tinted nude lip at the 97th Academy Awards. Gifting buildable yet never-overpowering color, up to 24 hours of hydration, and a kissable shine, the lightweight formula is perfect for applying on the move or carefully and methodically before a big night out. Randolph’s makeup artist paired it with the Lancôme Lip Idôle Lip Shaper in “62 Morning Espresso” for some very demure, very mindful outlining.

Lancôme Lip Idôle Lip Shaper
At this year’s Oscars, Laura Dern donned a lacy, long-sleeved black dress, and her beige-hued lips were just the touch of color needed to seal the deal on an unforgettable evening look. The lip must-haves responsible for Dern’s red carpet glam? Similarly to Da’Vine Joy Randolph, the nude lip products were the Lancôme Lip Idôle Lip Shaper and the Lancôme Lip Idôle Squalane-12 Butterglow Hydrating Lip Balm (though Dern wore the “36 Nude Now” and “33 Idôle Nude” hues, respectively). Lancôme’s lip pencil from the Idôle line is an item your makeup bag will be truly grateful for. After all, it’s matte and creamy in equal measure, completely waterproof, and infused with powerful ingredients, like ceramides and jojoba oil, to not only make your lips look great, but also to heal them on a cellular level. The brand’s Lip Shaper is also highly blendable for a blurred effect, so it’s no surprise makeup artists to the stars use it hand in hand with other lip products for maximum impact.

Armani Beauty Lip Power Longwear Satin Lipstick
At this point, it’s safe to say Mikey Madison needs no introduction, but her lipstick choice at the Oscars might. Makeup artist Melissa Hernandez decided to match what she called the “Breakfast at Tiffany’s energy” of the actress’ gown with a dramatic and sculpted eye look. As for Madison’s lips? Something more pared-back proved to be the right move, and for that, Hernandez used Armani Beauty’s Lip Power Longwear Satin Lipstick in two ways. First, she lined her client’s lips using the pointed end of the “203 Mystery” shade (a mauve-brown shade); then, she filled them with the more pink-like “503 Eccentrico” to compliment her fair skin color. The end result complemented the soft-pink elements of Madison’s dress to a tee, all while giving her the satin-like softness and long-lasting pigmentation this line of Armani lipsticks is known for. It turns out the star is no stranger to a good nude lip; at the 2025 SAG Awards, she wore this exact lipstick’s “104 Selfless” beige manifestation, now sold out on the Armani site (and for good reason!).

Armani Beauty Prisma Glass Hydrating Lip Gloss with Squalane
Sofia Richie Grainge’s minimalist peplum dress at the Oscars called for similarly toned-down makeup, which came in the form of the Prisma Glass Hydrating Lip Gloss from Armani Beauty. When the model and influencer’s makeup artist applied its “07 Nude Glow” shade over the brand’s aforementioned Lip Power Longwear Satin Lipstick in “107 Sensual,” a dewy and refreshing visual emerged. The lip gloss in question, beyond providing a covetable and glass-like shine, locks in 24 hours of hydration; flatters complexions; and can be worn on its won instead of as a second layer atop more color-forward lipsticks. Despite being a red carpet favorite, the Armani Beauty Prisma Glass Hydrating Lip Gloss will be just as comfortable playing a starring role in your at-home makeup rituals.

Dior Rouge Dior Refillable Lipstick
The number of celebrities that took advantage of Dior’s flesh-toned lip lineup at the 2025 Oscars is proof positive of how effective and worth-it the luxury brand’s lipsticks and lip liners are (as well as of the fact that nude lips are here to stay, baby!). Rachel Zegler’s makeup artist, for one, treated her pout to the Rouge Dior Lipstick’s “219 Rose Montaigne” colorway — a nude that was in fluent conversation with her eyeshadow.
To line the lips and prevent them from blending into the star’s pretty complexion at large, the Dior Rouge Dior Contour Lip Liner was also used, in the slightly darker “300 Nude Style” for a complimentary contrast that defined her lip shape. Unconvinced that the lipstick in particular was an A-lister favorite of the night? Anna Sawai and Jenna Ortega, among other awards show attendees, also experienced the wonders of its hydration-boosting red peony extract, so it’s safe to say the nude lip was a hit.

Dior Rouge Dior Contour Lip Liner
You were already introduced to the Dior Rouge Dior Contour Lip Liner with our previous breakdown of Rachel Zegler’s Oscars glam, but wait ’til you meet this product in its “400 Nude Line” color, which is precisely the shade singer Rosalía chose for the February festivities. Wearing a lip liner on its own would be a strange (and inadvisable) move, so of course her makeup artist used it in conjunction with Dior’s Rouge Dior Refillable Lipstick in “300 Nude Style.”
Dior’s contouring lip pencil deserves a firm place in your makeup routine based on how smudge-resistant and transfer-proof it is, never putting you in a less-than-perfect pout situation. It’s also shea butter–powered, which means you’ll get all of this ingredient’s antioxidant-based hydration and improvements to skin elasticity. The Dior Rouge Dior Contour Lip Liner wins big — in every category.

Dior Lip Glow Oil
This Dior lip essential is one every lip gloss girlie will no doubt appreciate. The brand’s Lip Glow Oil is as high-shine as can be, made to accentuate your pout’s natural coloring while nourishing it with cherry oil that curbs any signs of dryness before they’re able to develop. Unlike other lip oils or balms on the market, this celeb-approved choice is non-sticky and non-greasy; you’ll also soon fall in love with its scent profile of mint and vanilla. And don’t let the vast range of available shade options intimidate you. Simply take inspiration from Zoey Deutch’s lip look at the 97th Academy Awards: perfected, as it was, with the pictured Dior Lip Glow Oil in “012 Rosewood.” Her makeup artist applied it as the cherry on top (quite literally!) of the Dior Rouge Dior Contour Lip Liner and Dior Rouge Dior Refillable Lipstick.

Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Big Lip Plumpgasm Plumping Lip Gloss
Lindsay Lohan’s 2025 Oscars pout couldn’t have been more complimentary to her stunning emerald necklace, and it can be attributed directly to Charlotte Tilbury’s Pillow Talk Big Lip Plumpgasm Plumping Lip Gloss. That’s quite a mouthful, but the lip product has an equally extensive list of positive attributes. Beyond its instantly attractive pink-nude shade, it makes lips look 93 percent fuller, according to the brand: an effect that only becomes more prominent the longer you wear the gloss (which is also infused with hyaluronic acid for hydration). Lohan’s makeup artist also made sure to line her lips with the Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat pencil in the nude-rose “Icon Baby” color — a move we’re dying to replicate on our own faces, stat! Trust us when we say: The glazed lips of your dreams are only a purchase or two away.

Charlotte Tilbury Hot Lips 2
The decision to combine the Charlotte Tilbury Hot Lips 2 lipstick’s peachy-nude “Angel Alessandra” shade with Michelle Yeoh’s bright-blue Oscars garb was an effective one — and it certainly caught worldwide attention. The lipstick is award-worthy because it boasts a satin finish, has light-diffusing pigments perfect for camera flashes, and taps into the powers of hydrating antioxidants for smooth, supple lips. If Yeoh’s particular colorway of choice doesn’t compliment your skin tone, there are many more where that came from, including high-pigment reds for those who are still card-carrying members of the “bold red lip” camp.

Valentino Spike Valentino Buttery Matte Lipstick
Kaia Gerber was one of the many stars at the 97th annual Oscars who decided to embrace Old Hollywood glamour. Gerber’s makeup artist applied the “134R Couture In The Streets” hue — a rose-beige nude that made her lips appear naturally flushed. This nude lipstick gives you its all in just one stroke, thanks to cotton oil extract that moisturizes, ten whole hours of what the brand calls “stay-true color,” and the rare ability to flatter most fair skin tones. Looking for a shade that brings even more red carpet–level shimmer? The Spike Valentino Buttery Matte Lipstick is offered in glittery varieties, too (and we are oh-so-grateful).
