In case TikTok (and the most stylish members of your friend group) haven’t told you already, Gap has teamed up with Hailey Bieber to create the Hailey Jean, a limited-edition denim capsule comprised of two relaxed, summer-perfect styles: Extra Baggy and ’90s Low-Rise Loose.

If anything about this episode of cultural crossover looks familiar, that’s important. Since last year, Bieber has been recreating Gap’s 90s-inspired coded low-rise jean silhouette with almost religious devotion, pairing the relaxed and undeniably sexy style with everything from off-white tube tops and cropped tanks to Dior sweatshirts and leather jackets.

These placements (likely orchestrated by Gap creative director Zac Posen) sent fans and fashionistas alike into a frenzy, trying to find the exact model she flaunted – seemingly for 24 hours. Starting July 16th, not just one. two Bieber’s favorite vintage Gap jeans are elevated with unusual, never-before-seen details such as a custom wash, “1996” references her year of birth on the hardware and back patch, and the A-lister’s own signature can be seen on the pocket lining.

“Gap has been a part of my wardrobe since I was a child, so it came together very naturally,” the collection’s muse, 29, said in a press release. “1996 is the year I was born, and I take a lot of style inspiration from the ’90s. There was a very effortless vibe to that era and the way people wore denim. We wanted to capture that same feeling in our campaign and collection, with a modern, nostalgic and personal feel.”

The campaign images provide further insight into Posen and Bieber’s mutual intentions for this launch. It’s about allowing shoppers to teleport to a simpler time while remembering its unique fashion ethos.

In some shots, Bieber is wearing minimal makeup, no shirt, and only his co-created Gap jeans. In other photos, she looks straight at the camera with her hair slightly tousled. Elsewhere, Bieber shows off flip-flops under denim. The final result is a “nod”[s] “Gap’s iconic ’90s fashion image is expressed through clean studio visuals and subtle styling references,” the brand said.
