Almost every major retailer has some kind of reward program, and Target has one of their favorites. Target Circle, the chain’s free loyalty club, hooks up members with shopping rewards, in addition to other trading and saving opportunities.
Join the target circle
Target Circle has come a long way since its first launch in October 2019 since its placement of the old Cartheel program. In spring 2024, Target gave the program a huge refresher, making it even more rewarding and easy to use. If you are considering joining a target circle, continue reading. We’ve put together a complete guide to literally everything you need to know about Target’s attractive rewards programs.
How the target circle works
The main purpose of the Target Circle is to reward loyal customers for shopping at the Target. It works like this. After joining for free, Target Circle members will get special member-only deals with qualified purchases each time they shop at Target. These may include future target purchases, Bogo offers, offer to offer free purchases, and percentage back rewards that can be used for famous target gift card transactions that come in several times a year. Target Circle membership provides access to Target Circle Week, Target’s annual sale.

How to sign up for your target circle
Signing up for your target circle is free, quick and easy. There are three ways to join the target circle.
- Create a Target.com account: If you have an existing Target.com account or create a new account online, you will be automatically registered with the target circle.
- Use the target app: You can also sign up for the target circle using the Accounts tab of the target app. Opt in PassKey to quickly sign in with your fingerprints, faces, or pins.
- Inside the store: Finally, you have the option to sign up for Target Circle at the store at checkout. Ask your sales representative about participating.
When signing up for your target circle, expect to provide an email address and an optional phone number. When shopping in-store, you use your phone number to search for your account.
How to get rewards for your target circle
If you are a member of the target circle, here’s how to get these offers:
Target Store
- Scan the target circle barcode in the target app’s wallet.
- When checking out, enter the phone number you registered on the keypad or the self-checkout screen.
If you forget to do one of these at checkout, you can use the Target app to retrospectively enter your target circle reward receipt. Within 7 days of purchase, use the app to scan your receipt or enter it manually to earn rewards for that purchase.

To get your target circle offers automatically, simply log in to your target account.
Target app
When you link your target circle account to the target app, you will automatically apply a valid offer.
How to redeem target circle rewards
Once you have won Circle Rewards from a special offer or 5% birthday offer, you can redeem these rewards like cash for your purchase during your next visit to your target. Please note that target circle rewards expire if you have not acquired or redeemed them in one year.
Here’s how to redeem rewards for your target circle:
At the target store
At checkout, the target app scans the wallet for the phone number you signed up for. When you pay, select your target circle balance or tell your sales representative who will redeem your target circle revenue. Your balance will apply to your purchases. At the self-checkout station? Open the target app and tap Show Barcode to scan.
At Target.com
Please make sure your account is signed before checking out on Target.com. During checkout, you can choose to apply target circle revenue to your order.
Through the target app
During the target app checkout, choose to apply the target circle revenue to your order.
If you choose to redeem the reward, you will need to redeem the entire remaining in the same transaction. You cannot redeem only a portion of your balance. If the total purchase is less than the current reward balance, you will not be able to access the remaining reward balances until the transaction is fully processed.

The Target Circle Rewards Program is separate from the Target Circle Cards, store credits, debit cards, or reloadable cards. If you want to sign up for your target circle Card credit, debit, or reloadable cards will receive a 5% off on Target every time you shop, online, or through the Target app.
Other target circles The advantages of the card are:
- Free 2-day delivery from Target.
- 30 extra days for returns and exchanges.
- Exclusive offer.
If you are the target circle The card holder will automatically sign up for the target circle. However, savings don’t combine. As a target circle With Card Holder, you get 5% off on target purchases, rather than earning rewards with the Target Circle Rewards program.
One important difference between the two programs is that the rewards of the target circle must be redeemed during future visits. In contrast, the target circle Your card will be immediately 5% off your current purchase.

Target Circle Week
Target Circle Week is a sales target for only target circle members. Target has not announced a date for 2025, but it expects sales to take place in April and October, as last year. In 2024, there will be a Spring Circle Week sale in April, and Autumn Circle Week will be from October 6th to October 12th, 2024. Unlike Amazon’s Prime Day Sales, Target Circle Week is a 7-day savings. You must have a circle membership to take advantage of the discount.

What happened to the Target Cart Wheels?
Target Cart Wheels no longer existed, and Target Circle was replaced in 2019 as Target’s loyalty program.
Do I still need to “clip” the coupon?
For target circle members, the coupon will automatically apply to your purchase. We were able to clip the offer before checkout used to cause anxiety and FOMO. However, there are some caveats.
- Some manufacturer coupons/rebates still need to be “cut off” and applied if you want to redeem them.
- You must activate some “timing” target circle bonus offers. Think of the type offer that they “expend $50 on two shopping trips within X days and get a bonus.” You want to plan the timing of these shopping trips and activate the bonuses when ready, so these don’t need to be automatically activated anyway.
What happened to the target circle 1% back?
Target improved its Target Circle program in April 2024. One change on all purchases was not a 1% reverse profit. The old, reliable 1% rewards are gone, but you may find percent back bonus offers for your selected purchases.

Can I stack the target circle offering?
Generally, yes. You can stack target circle offers with other target circle offers or other coupons, unless the terms of the offer prohibit it. Recently I’ve stacked two Target Circle offers (free $5 Target Gift Cards when you buy 5% off Burt’s Bees products and 3 $5 Target Gift Cards):
You can also often use a Target Circle Offer on top of a manufacturer coupon (may be tapered to the target product on the shelf).

How can I redeem my target circle’s birthday reward?
If you add a date of birth to your Target Circle account before your birthday, the Target will send you a special treat. 5% off coupon! This discount will appear on your account on your birthday and will be valid for 30 days.
To use birthday rewards, open the target app and wallet tab. That’s where you find your 5% off offer. The app also provides restrictions or details on how to redeem it. When you’re ready to shop, simply apply the discount at checkout, whether in-store or online.
Will the target circle’s reward expire?
yes. Target Circle revenue will expire if you do not earn or redeem your reward for one year.
What does Target Circle and Ulta Beauty Rewards offer?
Target recently partnered with the Ulta Beauty Store to open a mini Ulta shop in 100 Target stores. The retailer says it plans to add Ulta mini shops to its 800 target locations.
As part of the partnership, Target allows members of Ulta Beauty Rewards (Ulta’s Rewards Program) to connect their Ulta Beauty Rewards with their Target Circle accounts. Linking these two accounts will earn Ulta reward points and Target Circle rewards (assuming there are positive and relevant offers) every time you shop at Ulta Mini Shops within your target. It’s a great way to save targets at the same time with Ulta.
Is there a target circle app?
No, there is no standalone target circle app. Target Circles are caught up in the Target App, allowing you to manage offers, hide gift cards, and manage target Circles. I shop at a card, and of course, all in one place.
