They did a research once, scanned the customer’s brain before entering. Container Store And then he left again (with all tissue products) and discovered that his dopamine levels were rising sharply. And not only for shopping (give you high as we all know), they concluded that it is so thrilling that the hope/outlook of your own more organized version. Now it may be an urban legend, but it is true to me. Think about this. For example, it is the most devastated garage of all time (which has not been maintained for nearly 200 years), and it may be that the “hoarding house” (products and bads) next to it is not organized. So, while rehabilitation in this garage has been a very business investment, the value I get from it is not only good for business, but incredible for my emotional inner world. i’m so excited. If you want to be a Gold Star leader, you can watch the YouTube we’ve created (Gretch and Marlee are killing it with this!!).

Where did we come from… Previous

The befores is pretty spectacular – “rundown” is a wild, understated thing. So my brother’s company (The construction mentioned above) Set it to restore it using the same footprint, the same structure, most of the original wood and posts (screams to old growing wood – some people had to replace or sniff out of the rain, but many were solid and terrible). It took several months and was much more expensive than I wanted to publish on the internet (over 6 figures), but she is now incredible. She is weather resistant, functional electricity, new concrete floors (one bay), new doors (all), cadet heating for winter, super sealed. Spider Proof!! (We hope that those harmless yet scary wolf spiders are insane).

We ended up covering all the walls and ceilings with pine tongues and grooves, making sure it is a finished space that allows for the most flexibility, but it is clearly really clean. The end use is definitely prop/tool storage, but it’s quite large so in the summer your team might work here and certainly do DIY projects.

So basically there are three walls that you can attach storage. But what kind of storage is it? Deep shelf? cabinet? drawer? Bin? Peg wall? So I made our list Really What is the best way to keep them in the long term, while still easily accessible?

  • Must be in the drawer/easy access, but closed:
    • Easy to access nails, screws, command strips, batteries, zip ties, adhesives, tapes, sharps, craft tools (not supply – in bins?)
    • Design Materials: Fabric Samples, Wood Samples, Wallpaper Samples, Paint (Sampling and Paint Decks), Hardware Samples
    • Bass Props and Office Props – Pretty Soap, Scrubbers, Bath Oil, Pen/Pad, Small Tray
  • In a bin or drawer:
    • Special tools: drills, paint sprayers, small saws
    • Table linens, napkins, placemats (may be found in cabinets: tableware, tableware, glassware, prop mug
  • Big Art:
    • A good solution is needed – a rolling rack? Small art or uframed art – lying flat in a drawer?
  • Clean things for shallow shelves (too deep makes reachable):
    • Vintage collection of all vases, containers, carvings, cute little things, colors
  • Big things for big shelves (need to deepen to stack two rows):
    • lamp
    • Big vase
    • pillow?
    • Vintage fabric bottles (very many)
    • Fresh towels, bath mat bottle
    • Planters/Pots
    • Medium art?

Big Storage Unit (not this garage, next garage): Furniture – Vintage line samples, rugs, large and small camping + sports stuff, all holidays, memorial bins, look unstoppable.

Ikea to rescue

So I set out to shop for storage furniture that offers both cabinets, drawers, deeper shelves and shallower shelves, closed and open. I knew the whole open shelving room looked busy and messy (and I’m not good at putting things back in the bin every day). So the goal was to combine open, closed and drawers. We know that our needs are specific. Most people just want a shelf and garage tool drawer. I landed firmly on IKEA due to the price, availability, design and many options that look good together (non-sponsored or traded). But I still had to check the dimensions, lay out it, raise the price and triple check my work. I came up with a plan:

This felt like a solid plan that checked all the feature boxes while still aesthetically pleasing. This is not a garage from the 80s with a Porsche poster on top of a screw bottle. She is so beautiful that she is functional.

Rear wall – the cleanest focus

Due to the depth potential and short ceilings, I thought this would be a great place for streamlined cabinet walls. I chose that IKEA PAX Closet Systembut it is designed for shelves and drawers, not closet rods. Kicker here? Green door front Very pretty, and I knew they could look good on the shelves below, and jump out of the pine. Their Online Design Program It’s a great user experience, all hinges, shelves, bits, bobs, everything added to your cart. It’s incredibly easy.

I chose a 39 inch cabinet (wide than slim ones) and chose the top shelf and bottom drawers so you can see. I chose a mesh drawer on the bottom with a bit of wings, and although I really don’t know why, I thought it would be a good thing to put in them (paint material? dirty drills? prop slippers?).

Once installed, you can see how the IRL worked. This is exactly the same as the design. And yes, we hired a rabbit from the Ikea task to put it all together (it took a day, but later we hung the door so we first opened it like this and waited on the shelf to plan the required height with certain props).

West Wall

For some reason, this was the wall I dedicated to deep shelves – not 12 or 18 inches, but tall, wide, deep for large bottles and lamps. Obviously there is a lot of flexibility here, not all the lamps and pillows measured. I love the green and black design of this BROR Unit (Thank you, Ikea, for taking care of the aesthetics).

East wall

This wall is short and there are doors along this wall to other garages. This seemed like a great place to have a wall of combinations. And here is where I wanted a slightly shallow shelf. Because I discovered that trying to really go back deeper to grab a vase can be annoying (or things can easily break). Here we chose it Even if it’s green, the green line. We definitely looked into all the other options in the line – rolling carts/tables, hanging cabinets, peg walls, but we knew there was a huge work table in the middle. We needed quite some open storage for my clean ones and the Bror shelves created it.

Once installed, I spent two days bringing in all the things I need (and purges). I gave my neighbor/friend lots of stuff, Aurora Mills (OG Architecture Elements – Doors, Bathtubs, Original Built-in), Reconstruction Center (random lighting, pedestal sink, bathtub), and a decent amount of coarse spider-covered pillow or random junk had to be donated or thrown away. We kept all the backup tiles, paint and window screens in our basement, as we really only need them in emergencies. I’m extremely excited to show you the results in a few weeks. I find myself in the garage in the morning with my coffee and just tinker around, rearrange and admire. That’s such a dream, and it would be very good for filming and my mental health (laughs).

Again, don’t forget to watch all of the videos on YouTube. It’s so much fun, I promise 🙂
