You can download the Gasbuddy app. This will allow you to quickly search for the best gas prices in your area. Alternatively, you can check local gas prices on the popular navigation app Waze. If everything else fails, use Street Smart. Please be aware of the price. Even the same neighborhood can offer quite different gas prices. You fall into the habit of paying attention to gas prices while you are doing business and commuting. 6. Get a cash-only discount to pay gasoline using cash
Some gas stations have a lower percentage per gallon when paid in cash (saving credit card processing fees).
When gas prices weren’t that bad, I was the first to admit that I wasn’t hooked on a few cents of savings. Choose the convenience of using a bank card at the station. However, if the gas prices are this high (I live in California, so I have the highest priced gas in the country), plan your filling in advance and secure cash. At ARCO, we were able to use cash to save 10 cents per gallon. I filled my Honda CR-V with $60 in cash. If you can combine this with the Fuel Rewards program, you will maximize your savings. Putting cash for fuel aside will also help you budget for the overall week.
7. We will provide services to your car
Vehicle maintenance records can affect your vehicle’s fuel economy. Check the owner’s manual to make sure the mechanic has chosen the right type of motor oil for the vehicle and changes the filters regularly. Completely inflate and align the tires. Regular service means that your car will not only last longer, but the gas will burn more efficiently.
8. Drive efficiently
A little tweaking the operation will save you overall by expanding the gas tank further. Remove loads from the trunk and don’t drop the windows at high speed, reducing unnecessary drag. Try limiting idling when it stops. When driving, take a break or tap the gas pedal to avoid the gas pedal (instead, gently tap). Aim to maintain consistent speeds that aren’t too fast. All of these seemingly small adjustments improve the overall miles per gallon.
