This is for self-employed women and entrepreneurs.
So six months went by and I went back to work.
I’m happy about the money, but I’m sad that I didn’t have 18 months to spend just on my daughter.
I am writing this message to everyone who may or may find themselves in the same position as me. If you are returning to work, it is important to discuss certain boundaries with your clients. This will be difficult, but necessary. This includes establishing clear communication about schedules, times when clients can contact you, and outlining expectations for accommodations like pumping breaks and flextime (if you are in the office).
Lastly, don’t forget! Remember to prioritize self-care. I am not able to do this right now. It was my first time, so it was also hard for me. Setting boundaries is not only about protecting your time and energy, but also about recognizing your needs. Take time for yourself: friendships, exercise, relaxation, social activities. I know you can’t do it because not everyone is asking for help, but try. Setting boundaries can be hard, but it is essential to establish a healthy environment for you and your baby. Good luck to all you mommies!
