Research finds black women have the highest burnout rate in the UK

A new UK workforce survey has found that black women experience the highest levels of burnout of all groups. The data shows the emotional labor of unequal progression of long hours and the pressure to outperform colleagues in order to be treated the same.

Researchers say black women often carry hidden workloads that employers aren’t aware of. Microaggressions and underestimation also play a big role. Rather than asking individuals to be “more resilient,” this study calls for structural change. We advocate for fairer promotion pathways, mental health support and accountability for inclusive leadership.

The findings echo what many black women have been saying for years. Changes have expired. This study provides numbers that confirm the reality we already know.
