Ricky Smiley appeared on the stage for Fool-a-comedy Special, the anchor and host of the National Syndicated Urban Radio Show in the United States, the Ricky Smiley Morning Show, scheduled to premiere on Hulu on May 30th.
The special is said to have landed in streamers after the bidding war. It is tapered at a lyrical theatre in Smiley’s hometown in Birmingham, Alabama, and is said to be infused with his trademark humor, character and satire about life and pop culture. The special is a sharp smiley since Smiley opened in 2011, first for director David E. Talbert, who reunited with Smiley following the film’s baggage request and first Sunday’s production.
“I knew I had to provide something that would satisfy my fans over a decade later,” Smiley said of the special. “In the last few years I have experienced a lot of transformations and trauma, and I have decided to overcome it and have a deeper connection with the audience from my experience. We can find a lot of humor in life.
Along with Talbert and Lyn Sisson-Talbert of Golden Girl Inc., Fool-Talish is an executive produced by Laura Lizer, Judi Marmel, Matt Beales and John Bravakis.
Smiley, formerly host of BET’s Comic View and Smiley for Reality’s Smiley for Reality series, has been pinning the Ricky Smiley Morning Show in Atlanta for 20 years. In addition to his work as a comic, actor and radio personality, he is the author of that sideshow.
