The cast and filmmakers behind Disney’s long-awaited re-creation of “Moana” will be honored after kicking off a global tour in Hawaii earlier this month. dwayne johnson, Catherine Laga`Aia and the director Thomas Keil.
Johnson will reprise his role as the trickster demigod Maui and will serve as a producer on the new film. Breakout star Lagaia plays the lead role of Moana. and Emmy and Tony Award-winning director and executive producer Thomas Kail came together for a special presentation at ICC Sydney, Australia on Thursday night, June 25th. The evening began with live music by him. Opetaia Foa`IHe wrote the original song for “Moana” with Lin-Manuel Miranda and Mark Mancina. and his band Te Vaka. Choreographer and associate producer Tiana Nonoshina Liufau and assistant choreographer kayla fa`Amarigi He also attended an event celebrating the people, culture and traditions of the Pacific, which is the inspiration for the new film. Additionally, Johnson, LaGaia and Kyle completed a special photo shoot at Sydney’s iconic Bondi Icebergs seaside pool.
In Moana, Disney’s live-action reimagining of the popular Oscar®-nominated animated adventure, Moana (Katherine Lagaia) answers the call of the sea and joins the infamous demigod Maui (Dwayne Johnson) for the first time on an unforgettable journey across the coral reefs of Motunui Island to restore prosperity to her people. The film is directed by Emmy and Tony Award winner Thomas Kail (“Hamilton”). Produced by Dwayne Johnson, PGA, Beau Flynn, PGA, Danny Garcia, Hiram Garcia, PGA, Lin-Manuel Miranda. Scott Sheldon, Charles Neuwirth, Kyle and Auli’i Cravalho, who voiced Moana in the animated films Moana and Moana 2, served as executive producers. “Moana” includes a new song, “Along the Way,” written by Lin-Manuel Miranda and performed by Cravalho, LaGaia and Johnson. Original music by Lin-Manuel Miranda, Opetaia Foai, and Mark Mancina. Original score composed by Mancina. Audiences can experience the great cinematic sights, sounds, and songs of “Moana” only in theaters on July 10, 2026.
