On Sunday, April 27th, Lionsgate proudly unveiled its marquee. Shadow Force At the 49th Atlanta Film Festival, led by Emmy Award winners, stars and producers Kelly Washington. The screening took place at Historic Plaza Theater, a well-known landmark for independent and groundbreaking films.
Prior to the screening, Washington was recognized for her prestigious 2025 Ossie Davis Award for filmmaking innovation, reaffirming the groundbreaking portrayal of a fiercely protective mother navigating the situation of extraordinary high-stakes, redefine the traditional boundaries of female roles in action. The Ossie Davis Award is a rare and well-known award that has been awarded only five times in the last 20 years, and has been awarded past winners such as Spike Lee, Cicely Tyson, John Sayles & Maggie Renzi, Keke Palmer and Bill Duke.
The award presentation was featured by Atlanta Film Festival programmer Astin Rocks and was announced by Emayatzy Corinealdi, the star of Hulu’s reasonable doubts produced by Washington executives through Simpson Street Banner.
Shadow Force Producer Stephen “Dr.” Ai and Pilar Savaughn were also present.
After the screening, Washington took part in a lively post-screening Q&A moderated by Jazzy McBee of V-103, sharing insights into its creation Shadow Force and her creative journey in Hollywood.
Directed by Joe Carnahan (gray, Smokin Ace),, Shadow Force He tells the story of two former elite operatives who risk everything for their love and family, and is forced to hide it in order to protect their children from their dangerous past.
