Every month, a group of close girlfriends and I get together to have dinner and catch up. We try to visit new spots every time, and we visited a few months ago. phonea farm-to-table tapas-style restaurant located in Cooper Young. The food is American-style but experimental, using locally sourced ingredients, and you can expect fun flavor combinations. I consider myself a foodie and am always open to trying new things when it comes to food. Fawn’s approach to cooking is fresh and bold, putting a little twist on some comforting dishes.
One of the things I love about my friends is that we all have relatively broad palettes and are open to trying anything. We ordered cocktails, apps, entrees and desserts and sampled each other’s dishes to get a good feel for the menu.
Some of the things we tried:

Miso deviled egg
Egg, red miso, Kewpie, furikake, chili crisp

cheese plate
Tulip trillium, Nduja spiced melon and crostini

grilled asparagus
Purple Farm Asparagus, Béarnaise, Spring Peas, Watermelon Radish, Garlic Scape Pesto, Sweet Potato Crispies

egg yolk pappardelle
Boiled rabbit in milk, mustard greens, sour cherry, green onion cream

chocolate basque cheesecake
grapefruit coulis, mint
The good news? Everything was so delicious (my pasta dish was amazing and I still remember it). The bad news? Sometimes I end up sitting on content for too long. We’ve switched to a fall menu, so some items are no longer available (sorry!) You can still find miso deviled eggs (which are a popular menu item), but everything else has evolved into a different dish. But that’s okay. That means you have to try things out for yourself.

It’s a time of year when local businesses need us more than ever. So if you can, consider trying somewhere new (and local!) even if it’s just for cocktails, apps, and dessert.
Have you ever eaten at Fawn?
