In honor of Women’s History Month, the legendary Debbie Allen Join “The Jennifer Hudson Show” on Monday, March 9th as we celebrate Debbie Allen Dance Academy’s 25th anniversary and the strong legacy she has created. From inspiring young dancers to overcoming challenges along the way, Debbie reflects on a life and career driven by purpose. She also shares why she remains here now and why helping others find their light continues to fuel her mission.
Debbie also spoke about the joy of becoming a Barbie doll, how it was an honor to see a doll made in her likeness, and the impact it will have on new generations. She details the call from Mattel, the support of friends including Denzel Washington, and emphasizes the importance of representation. Debbie also talks about directing the pilot for The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, meeting a young Will Smith, and her excitement to return to Broadway to direct the star-studded cast of August Wilson’s Joe Turner’s Come and Gone.
