One of the best ways to project your personality as a content creator or blogger is to show off in front of the camera. After I had my baby, I gained weight and became very shy so I stopped showing off in front of the camera.
Now I have a toddler and am still overweight, but who cares?
Be yourself!
I don’t always have help taking photos, so give yourself a pat on the back. My husband usually helps me out on the weekends, but with a four-year-old and a mountain of household chores, it’s best to take photos myself throughout the day.
One thing I can say about my own photography is that it definitely serves a purpose.
Here are some steps I take before shooting myself.
- Make sure your camera is stable by using a tripod or ring light. I can’t tell you how many horror stories I’ve heard or seen about cameras that fall to the floor and break if they’re not fully secured. You don’t want that to happen. You likely won’t be near your camera when you take the photo, so make sure everything is fully secured. You don’t want something to happen to your valuable investment.
- Get a remote or find a camera that lets you shoot live. I have a Canon, which is a great camera that connects to your phone. Via Bluetooth, you can see and shoot yourself. You can also set a self-timer to take the photos and videos you want. Tip: Shoot a little wider than you normally would. A wider angle will give you a nicer crop if you want to.
- Don’t be shy, know your angle, and don’t be afraid to try different styles.
