What is your irrational fear today? What makes you tremble? Why do you want to sprint in the opposite direction? My answer is simple…
elevator. Gyahahaha.
I first wrote about elevator fear about 20 years ago. Since then, I have started taking elevators properly. *Check notes* 16 times — and only when the stairwell was unavailable. Otherwise, I’m happy to take the stairs, no matter what floor it is. I once climbed 33 planes to see a therapist. (“How much do I need you??” I told her breathlessly when we arrived.)

I’ve seen some really small elevators in France. This is my mother in Paris. And here’s another video I took. Reader, we didn’t go in.

Kelsey bravely went for this during her honeymoon.
So tell me: what is your irrational fear? Does anyone else hate elevators?
PS Do you have any tips for remembering people’s names and have you ever ghosted them after a party?
