I can’t manage this anymore. Glutathione infusions are a self-care routine that changed my life. As a health enthusiast living in Los Angeles, I’m exposed to lots of new “miracle” ingredients, products, and rituals. Honestly? Many of them are no good, but some of them work like magic and I’m hooked. So when I heard about the benefits of glutathione, I was interested.

My experience with glutathione
Known as a revolutionary antidote, glutathione is starting to be used everywhere, most notably in the form of 15-minute IV glutathione injections. Like other popular, expert-approved supplements, glutathione is naturally occurring. Your body already makes it, uses it, and knows what to do with it. This guarantees effectiveness, unlike synthetic solutions and corrosive detox agents (apple cider vinegar…I’ll never use it again).
I decided to give myself a glutathione push to reset my health after a pampering vacation. Instead, I got something better. It’s an all-star addition to my morning routine that reduces inflammation, supports the body’s natural detox processes, and also helps address hyperpigmentation from the inside out. Yes, really!
Glutathione is the body’s most powerful antioxidant. According to Dr. Patel, founder of , it is often referred to as the “master antidote.” Oro Wellness and author glutathione revolution. At the forefront of making glutathione trendy, Dr. Patel has been researching glutathione since 1999 and was one of the manufacturers of IV and liposomal formulations. He is the driving force behind the glutathione injection trend and gave me insight into all things glutathione and why you should incorporate it into your daily life.

Dr. Patel founded Auro Wellness in 2011 to develop products that keep the body functioning at optimal levels and reduce the long-term effects of stress on the body.
What is glutathione?
“Glutathione (GSH) is a naturally occurring tripeptide amino acid (protein) produced in every cell of our body and is often referred to as the master antioxidant and master detoxifier,” says Dr. Patel.
In other words, it is the body’s way of naturally detoxifying, neutralizing free radicals and flushing out toxins. More and more people are supplementing their glutathione levels through glutathione injections or liposomal supplements to support the body’s natural detoxification processes and prevent disease. This has the following advantages:
- Prevent signs of premature aging
- Promotes cell proliferation (aka the production of more cells).
- boost immunity
- detoxifies toxins
- Brightens the skin and erases hyperpigmentation
- Neutralizes free radicals that cause oxidative stress and cause disease.
Benefits of glutathione injections
“Traditionally, injections of nutrients are expected to have good absorption,” says Dr. Patel. Instead of slathering on creams or chewing supplement gummies and absorbing all these good ingredients at a lower rate, your body can more efficiently ingest higher doses. “The advantage of glutathione injections is that they avoid harsh conditions in the stomach and may provide benefits such as neutralizing free radicals.”
For this reason, demand for glutathione injections, primarily through intravenous drip, is increasing. A 15-minute “glutathione push” infusion service has been introduced in many clinics. Suddenly, glutathione injections became more accessible, affordable, and efficient than other hourly infusions (which can be twice as expensive, if not triple the price) ). Don’t get me wrong. I like to combine my glutathione drip with collagen or hydration drips as a treat from time to time, but the glutathione push has become my holy grail.
Comparison of glutathione injections and liposomal glutathione supplements
Infusions are not the only way to experience the benefits of glutathione. “Many people also choose intravenous glutathione to improve their health and well-being,” says Dr. Patel. “There are other alternatives available that provide similar, if not better, results to improve overall health and longevity.”
What is another popular way you can replenish glutathione? Liposomal glutathione packs. They’re popping up by the counters at Erewhon and other health stores. In other words, they are Wellness Girl approved.
“Liposomal glutathione provides some protection for the harsh gastrointestinal tract,” says Dr. Patel. However, he points out that the effects will not last very long. This is why liposomal glutathione supplements are great to take daily. Adding these to your morning supplement routine can increase your daily amount of glutathione.
Can I apply glutathione topically?
We’re big fans of antioxidant-rich skin care, and luckily glutathione is finally finding its way into skin care regimens. Dr. Patel agreed, saying that recent technology “holds great promise for the topical administration of glutathione.”
Like other antioxidants, applying glutathione is an excellent choice for brightening the skin, targeting signs of aging (such as pigmentation and fine lines), and building the skin barrier.
