If you like amaretto sours or whiskey sours, try our Midori Sour recipe. You’ll love the melon flavor and dark green color of this 1980s cocktail. This recipe does not require sour mix. A fruity cocktail that isn’t too sweet.

  • Midori melon liqueur – A sweet, bright green liqueur made using:
  • vodka – Choose a high-quality unflavored vodka.
  • lemon juice – Freshly squeezed.
  • lime juice – Freshly squeezed.
  • club soda – or topped with soda water. You can also use a lemon-lime soda like Sprite.
  • lemon wheel – As a garnish.

What is Midori?

“Midori” is a melon-flavored liqueur made with domestic cantaloupe and Yubari fruit. These are infused in a neutral grain spirit. Then mix brandy and sugar and add green food coloring to make Midori.

Midori tastes like a sweet melon-flavored liqueur. It was first released in 1978 by Suntory, a company famous for Japanese whiskey and beer.

“Midori Sour” was born shortly after the release of “Midori” and was extremely popular from the 1980s to the 1990s.

How to make

Add Midori, vodka, lemon juice, and lime juice to a cocktail shaker filled with ice.

Shake for 10-15 seconds. Strain and pour into a glass with fresh ice.

Top with club soda or lemon-lime soda.
