Chai spice has to be one of the most loved spice mixes in the world. This homemade chai spice mix is perfect for drinks, teas, and baked goods. It leaves a nice scent in the kitchen and is so much fun to make. To me, chai spice has a very pleasant aroma and flavor.
This chai spice mix can be used in drinks such as homemade chai lattes, iced chai lattes, and dirty chai. Also great as a spice mix for cookies, quick breads, muffins, cakes, etc.

Store in an airtight container. Store in a cool, dry place for up to 6 months or more.

Notes and additions
- This combination is fairly universal. That being said, one of the benefits of making your own spice blend is that you can customize it to your own tastes. If you don’t like nutmeg, please omit it. Want more spiciness? Add more black pepper.
- You can also add more spices like allspice or star anise to this mix. I tend to keep it simple, but I sometimes add star anise as a garnish to drinks I make with chai spices.
- Make sure all base spices you use are fresh so the final spice mix will keep for at least 6 months.
- This also makes a fun homemade gift for a tea lover or baker you know.
