Affirmations can be hard, especially for women. We’ve been taught to prioritize the happiness of others over our own and to put ourselves last. Perhaps we’ve even been taught that thinking positively about ourselves is selfish or vain. (Trust me, it’s not at all.) But many of us have heard from a well-meaning friend, therapist, or self-help book that practicing affirmations in front of a mirror can make a huge difference in our lives. And that’s true, even if the experience feels weird or awkward.
Behind these positive thoughts lies Self-Affirmation TheoryThey claim that by telling yourself (repeating) your beliefs, you “maintain your integrity.” But despite the science behind it, when I try to practice affirmations myself, I feel imposter syndrome creeping in. Who else is this?

The Importance of Practicing Positive Language for Women
It’s normal to have doubts when you’re telling yourself things that just don’t feel true. For example, on the days when everything’s going wrong, your hair is in all sorts of weird states, or you get pimples that pop up out of nowhere, it might feel insincere to say, “I feel beautiful on the inside.”
When you practice positive affirmations every day, you’re not only telling yourself kind, loving words, you’re also starting to believe them.
My advice? Feel it! Then take a step back and ask yourself where that feeling is coming from. Is it an inner feeling of doubt or comparison? Or maybe it’s something someone said in the past. When we look deep into our limiting beliefs, we can see the flaws in the stories we’ve been telling ourselves. We can see how they’ve been holding us back from stepping into the truth of who we really are.Beautiful and full of light.
When you practice positive affirmations every day, not only will you be saying kind, loving words to yourself, but you will also begin to believe them. You may not experience a revelation from the following positive affirmations, but I say this: Practice them and you will have hope.
