I like to think of September as a fall from a soft start. When the first person of the moon hits, our cravings are directed towards everything that is comfortable. Blankets, socks, hot drinks and activities will help you make the most of your indoor transition. But October? She is in full bloom. By the time the moon rolls, the air is clear, the leaves spin, and the rhythm of daily life feels stable and comfortable. in the end, I’m very happy to live in a world where Octobar is. Isn’t it all of us?

October is the month when stove-simmered soups, candles burn all the time and sweaters pulled out of storage. It’s also when everything seems to be speeding up – full swing school, holidays on the horizon – that’s exactly why I love making a deliberate list of things to do in October. As a to-do, don’t think too much about it, think of it as a gentle invitation to pause, taste and experience it in full this season.

Small reminders for an exciting October

To help you lean towards October, we are woven into some extras of the month – Journal Prompts for Reflections, Favorite Readings from our Subgels, One of our Editor’s Seasonal Picks, and more. A gentle reminder to slowly find inspiration and bring a little beauty to your everyday life.

Gentle nudge: What rituals can you add to an October night?

From the breathing space: in “Why do some people think they are lucky?”Kamille unravels how discernment, presence, and openness can sometimes be mistaken for good fortune, and how realizing unexpected little moments can change the way we live.

Editor’s Pick: “I couldn’t be more excited about the soup, chili or casserole this fall. I can’t wait to use more from the Dutch oven. I love mine on the sul table. It’s a mainstay that won’t break the bank. I also make homemade bread every week. – Christen Galafo, Design Editor

Things to do in October to celebrate the season

First, we share our favourite things in October to help you live to the fullest of this month. Get your favorite sweater and a mug of warmth.

October 1st-5th

1. Give yourself a cozy autumn candle. Is there a better season for candles? I’m afraid not. I’m currently obsessed with Voluspa Spice pumpkin latte (It’s a step up from a basic, ubiquitous scent) Blonde cypress scent From PF Candle Co.

2. Do a fall skin reset. You need to be extra careful about cool weather. Fall skincare refresh doesn’t have to be complicated. You are nine simple but gorgeous steps from the best autumn skin of all time.

3. Migrate breakfast for autumn. Ayurveda teaches you to lean on the ground to warm food when a temporary employee falls. For a cozy nutritional start, try an overnight bowl of oats or kitchari.

4. Go to Apple Picking and liven up a batch of apple cider. The Apple season peaks early, so I’ll make this a week’s priority. When you get home, simmer a pot of homemade cider on the stove. The whole house smells like autumn.

5. Surprise your neighbors with baked goods. Even a pumpkin spice cookie, a crispy apple, or a batch of muffins, seasonal snacks are a very sweet way to spread the little October delights.

October 6th-12th

6. Switch the background of your mobile phone and computer. Small changes that make a big difference. Select images that you feel suited to your October look and feel. Or create a vision board in the camber that will cause joy every time you open your laptop.

7. Decorate your entrance with fallen decorations. Highly stacked pumpkins are always yes, but there is no need to stop there. The layers of lanterns, moms, and cozy places of residence feel warm and seasonal without too much effort.

8. Start a book club with friends. What’s comfortable doesn’t have to be a solo activity. Gather your girlfriends, open a bottle of wine and dive into one of the most scheduled books of the fall. Bonus: Combine it with a seasonal grazing board.

9. Warm your home with some new fall throws. There’s nothing better than curling under the blanket when the temperature subsides. Target has (as always) your favorite options.

10. Bake pumpkin bread ( The best 1). There are a million recipes, but I tested them until I found my favorites forever. Save Kamille Pumpkin Loaf recipe. This is a classic that comes back every October.

11. Host Chili Cook Off. Can you trust us? Sweet potato and black bean chili – vegetarian-friendly and always a hit. Invite friends, bring your own version for the casual chef and crown the winner at the end of the night.

12. I’m going on a fall hike with my friends. Layer it, go outside and take the leaves while the leaves are at their peak. Plan an early morning trail walk with a friend, then reward yourself with cider and pastries.

October 13th-19th

13. Make a seasonal dinner. Lead the menu to local production. Think cozy pasta dishes or simple roasted chicken with autumn vegetables. For Inspo, check out our favourite autumn sheet pan recipes. This is perfect for cooking from the market to the table.

14. Invest in a cozy autumn wardrobe. Think of the staples that arrive in season: cozy knits, classic trenches, boots that work both on errands and in the evening. The Autumn Capsule Wardrobe is a great place to start.

15. 5k training. Even if you’re not a runner, signing up for a local race is a really fun way to breathe in the vibrant autumn air. Apps like Sofas up to 5k It makes the process feel approachable (and dare you say… enjoyable?).

16. Incredible Halloween costume. Skip last minute scramble. Draw inspiration from our favorite Halloween costumes and get creative with what you already have in your closet.

17. Spend the weekend in the forest hut. There’s nothing more dreamy than waking up outside the window to defeat the leaves. Whether it’s a small house just a few hours away or a shed in the woods, a quick trip is the perfect reset.

18. I’m going for antique shopping. On Saturdays, we wander around the local restaurant for autumn drinks. You almost always leave something unexpected (and totally fascinating).

19. Have a fall movie marathon. Stack your blankets and work through a must-see list. If you need inspiration, bookmark our list of the best movies to stream and start checking off this fall.

October 20th-26th

20. I’ll make s’mores at home. Who says you need a campfire? Layer graham crackers, chocolate and marshmallows in a frying pan and bake until they are foamy. Bonus Points Mix seasonal flavors and pumpkin spice chocolate, someone?

21. Create a Autumn playlist. Just a few songs sound Like autumn. For me, it’s Gregory Alan Isakov, Jose Gonzalez and Fleet Fox. Whenever you want to feel comfortable right away, press Play.

twenty two. Take a knitting or crocheting project. The weather is cold, so few are more satisfying than working with your hands. Start with a beginner’s kit, join a local class, or simply carve out the time to make progress with half the project.

twenty three. There is a weekly walking day. It’s a very easy way to connect with friends while you get fresh air. Keep it simple: Choose a neighborhood loop, bring a hot drink and unfold the conversation.

twenty four. Plan autumn dates. Swap dinner and movies for something seasonal. Try apple picking, cooking together, or working through a list of cozy autumn date ideas.

twenty five. Read the whole morning. Instead of squeezing a few pages before going to bed, block weekend mornings just for books. Pair it with tea or coffee to make it longer than usual.

26. Tailgate at a football game. Bundle it up, pack a cooler and cheer on your favorite team. Honestly, snacks may just be the best part.

October 27th-31st

27. Invite your friends to the bonfire. There’s nothing like a night around the fire with warm drinks and smores. Make it a potluck to keep things simple.

28. Make a pot with a fall scent. Simmer apples, cinnamon sticks, cloves and orange slices on the stove to fill your home with the scent of autumn. It’s the easiest way to make a chilly day feel warm.

29. Have a puzzle night. Gathering partners, family members or roommates is awkward. Wear a fall playlist, pour a mug of cider and slowly turn the rhythm of bewilderment into its own ritual.

30. Please proceed with your holiday card. Before the season gets too busy, order stationery and schedule a date for your family photos. In the future you will be grateful for Head Start.

31. CarvePumpkins (and roasted seeds). Make an evening: Carve pumpkins with friends, season them and toast the seeds in the oven. Salty, crispy and perfect Halloween snack.
