Why we’re convinced [spoiler] isn’t [spoiler]

9-1-1 Last week we were slamming the hype for Episode 15, “Lab Rats,” the second part of the two-part “contagion” event in Season 8.

Warning: Major spoilers for 9-1-1 Season 8 episode “Laborat”…

“Laborat” jumps straight in after an infected chimney (Kenneth Che) escapes the SoCal Tech Lab’s death door and evil scientist Moira in treatment. From there, Buck (Oliver Stark) and Athena (Angela Bassett) work together to corner Moira, and the Army and FBI unite to hunt down Buck and Athena.

Meanwhile, Bobby (Peter Kraus), Hen (Aisha Hins) and Rabbi (Anild Pisharodi) meet the obstacle after the lab’s obstacle, but they hang there while Chim slowly bleeds.

After some underground, high octane helicopter chases, and administration of antiviral serum, things are beginning to look for their first counterparts. As Chim begins to regain his life force, it is all happy tears and relief, and the Army will eventually release the 118 from the lab, with a soft, hopeful acoustic track playing in the background.

Many of the episodes are summarised in the same trials, tests and beloved formulas. Emergency, urgent, “Oh, no, will they make it?”, “They made it,” solve dramatic end credit music. But as “labrat” puts together emotional rescue, it throws us for a loop.

Suddenly, Bobby returns to the lab, shuts the door and peers in panic and into the extremely confused bag from the other side of the glass. And, oh Christ… in the excitement of finding a cure, I Completely I forgot the teaser for “Laborat” and forgot that the 118 face shot was distorted by pure anguish. Body bag It is lifted out of the lab. Captain Bobby Nash has signed the virus, and now he will die.

Resigning to his fate, he slowly undresses his mask and reveals that he will stop the black sack under his eyes and the blood leaking from his nose. “You’re fine, Buck, I remember that,” he says. “They will need you. I love you, kids.” And oh.

As if that couldn’t be any more devastating, we meet Athena’s shots, look straight through the plastic tunnels, waiting worriedly for her husband to come out. But he doesn’t, and he doesn’t. He is almost dying, and now is the time to say goodbye. One of the most devastating scenes in 9-1-1 history is the reverberation of Hozier’s “worksongs,” making it even more courageous, heartbreaking and less overly dramatic. Then there was silence. They run the body bag, polish the abandoned captain’s helmet and cut it into black.

Even in the eight seasons of the show, Bobby’s death came too early. But aside the timeline, I feel the way he did it is also very fitting for the character. He spent the last two episodes looking for his team – performing field surgery on Hen’s fallen lungs, becoming creative in the rabbinic oxygen tank, administering only existing doses of antivirals to Chim – actively dying under his mask and the cover of the vote. After all others were out and safe, he allowed himself to completely deal with what was going on.

He committed suicide with a broken man alone, and to his conscience, 148 bodies. Now he is dying a hero surrounded by his family. He repented, then some. And now, he wants to live, but he knows that his new family can’t live either. And if I wasn’t sure everything was fake and Bobby was still alive, it would be devastating.

Maybe I’m in the denial stage of grieving the fictional fire chief. I’m probably a fantasy. But I have a lot of questions so I ask you to listen while I get the Pepe Sylvia Mem level level of conspiracy theory.

First of all, I know they carried Bobby into a body bag and he seemed to have been blown away on the screen in front of our eyes. But they also continue many of the last two episodes about how this new strain of hemorrhagic fever in Crimea and Congo differs from what they saw previously. They don’t Really I know how it works. They could speculate, but every time Chim vomited blood or showed new symptoms it seemed shocked everyone.

Perhaps this new CCHR will bleed you and die. But perhaps it slows the heartbeat to a level that is barely detectable until it sweats and recovers from the system. Perhaps no one in their right mind would want to perform an autopsy on a body that has been hit with a very contagious and novel virus, so they are forced to stick our dear captain straight into co, turnout, etc. and use radio emergency services to drive him out. Who says it?

Second, why do they kill major and beloved characters like Bobby Nash in three episodes of the season? The finale was an obvious choice to throw the death of the main character, and the penultimate episode was also meaningful, giving the rest of the gang time to deal with grief and losses before setting season 9 for life without him.

But episode 15/18? It’s just weird. We look forward to (?) after a short break, but what are we going to do in the next two episodes? 9-1-1 This really feels like a bait and switch because it’s a show that likes to follow a clear cut formula.

Third, Bobby just I had a death experience at the end of season 7. They gave him wisdom to the rest of the 118, said goodbye, stopped his heart for 14 minutes, put him in a coma state, and gave him an emotional musical montage before resurrecting him as if nothing had happened. Why do you do that, and do that? You will need to wait for the NDE. It’s not just jumping the cue like this. (If nothing else, at least the team seemed to feel something about the prospect of Bobby dying this time, rather than barely pounding his eyes in the hospital waiting room while Athena was off the grid with a revenge and gun.)

It’s also the fact that Bobby saw it far from the fire station at the start of season 8. His captain’s helmet will be replaced with technical advisor sheets on sets of TV firefighters’ drama hotshots everywhere. This movement was especially fun as he began to see Spar in a similar way with lead actor Brad Torrance (Column Blue). However, that storyline was stretched almost throughout the first half of the season after Bobby rejoined 118.

I wonder why 9-1-1 – First and foremost, a show about Found Fiond Family – will Bobby spend most of his time with the random characters he met at the season premiere and eventually kill him later in the season? Certainly, it would have made more sense to spend that time moving forward with Athena, Buck, Chim, Hen, Eddie (Ryan Guzman) and the Rabbi.

And on the subject of Eddie, why do they have Bobby? die-Die, for Realisies, one of his crew’s core members was not mentioned in El Paso, as well as in the episode? To be honest, it feels quite shit for Eddie. Over the years, Bobby has developed unique and complicated relationships with each member of his team. Bobby’s dynamics with Eddie were the best of them as they bonded with her father’s experience, shared grief, and supported each other as widows. If it’s really Bobby teeth Dead, Eddie was not there with the rest of the gang.

Another storyline that doesn’t make sense in this new context is Bobby’s plot of “The Holy Mother of God.” The entire episode directed by cast member Aisha Hins is Banger, and we see Bobby reuniting with his estranged brother and his faith healer mom. But if that would be Bobby’s final storyline before his death, why? What is the point?

In addition to a flashback to Bobby’s childhood in the season seven episode “Step Nine,” Bobby’s close relatives were not part of his story. It’s always been Mercy, Brooke, Bobby in Minnesota and Athena in LA and kids. So why bring them now? Because of the closure? 9-1-1 I always love the closure a bit, but was it really necessary here, especially if it was the last closure that Bobby Nash had ever been trying to get?

It is also the fact that off-screen, the show filmed the entire funeral procession, where he watched teaser for the upcoming episode during the day on the streets of Los Angeles. Someone streamed a lot of it on Tiktok. It appears they weren’t trying very hard to keep it a secret. You might talk to people or speculate with a glimpse of a mysterious funeral, but this one featured a queue-leading grant, 118 brands of cas on the back of the fire truck, and a voting jacket with “Nash” hanging behind. There were no questions asked about who the funeral was intended.

Honestly, everything smells strange to me. Ark kills Bobby Nash, a character who has very distinctive features of his faith and journey the day before Good Friday.

I’m saving tears for now. We are pleased to see that we want wool to be pulled above our eyes.

So let’s go back to this in two more paranoid weeks, whether I’ve been proven about the whole thing.
