Rapper Tyler, the Creator further touches on his sexuality in new lyrics for his just-released album chromacopia – Here’s how and when to do it.
Tyler, The Creator has never publicly revealed his sexuality, but he has mentioned multiple times in the past that he is not completely straight.
For example, in 2018, he called his sexuality a “gray area” and said, “Even though people think I’m loud and out, I’m private and it’s a weird dichotomy. ” he added (via fantastic man) while discussing flower boy Lyrics: “I’ve been kissing white boys since 2004”
Since then, he’s released more songs that hint at relationships with men, like 2023’s “Sorry Not Sorry.” The song includes the lyrics, “I’m sorry to the guys who had to hide/I’m sorry to the girls who had to lie.”
and, chromacopiaTyler, the Creator pushes the envelope even further, with several tracks that reference queerness in many aspects.
On “Balloon,” featuring bi-rapper Doechii, Tyler is heard saying, “I’m a bitch, but I need that pussy right now/If he’s gay, then I’m gay, and we’re nouns (we’re nouns),” Doechii added.
The album’s third song, “Noid” (short for “Paranoid”), depicts Tyler’s difficulty trusting people, regardless of their gender. The rapper sings, “I don’t trust them at all, she, him, them, them, or whoever.” It’s tough here.
and chromacopia‘s lyrics aren’t just about Tyler, the Creator’s sexuality. “Darling, I” is a reference to open relationships (ethical non-monogamy), “Love everyone at the same time for different reasons / Look at monogamy, that’s not for me.” It has a bar that says, “It’s not suitable for me.”
The rapper also recently announced pricing for his 2025 UK tour, with additional dates added for the US in late 2024.
